I watched the first episode and dont remember that much exept that it didnt grab me at all. Ive now got all 10 recorded and I wonder if I should invest the 10 hours to watch the whole thing.

Any advice from those who watched it?

it was an ok series. definitely not even close to as good as band of brothers.

what sucked was that the most interested character seemed to be the least featured. I guess that may have been done on purpose.

I just wasnt drawn in to this series as much as I would have liked.

I think you shoudl watch it. it was better than most of the other trash on tv and they at least showed a couple of nice sets of tatas.

Yes.

It wasn't as good as BOB, but it was still better than 90% of the trash that's on TV.

I enjoyed it. IMO the Sledge storyline (last 5)was a lot better than the Leckie storyline.

The first half of the series, despite the great battle sequences, is a little slow and hard to follow as they move from tiny island to tiny island and introduce the characters. However, the second half of the series is almost as fantastic as BoB. Thought they did an outstanding job depicting just how different it was to fight the Japanese and just how awful fighting in the Pacific must have been.

I thought Sledge was the most interesting character. He had the best story arc. Basilone got the best monologue with his "so you wanna kill some japs" training speech, but he was awesome and heroic the whole time.

By the sixth or seventh part, I was looking forward to The Pacific as much as I looked forward to BoB. Now that I think about it, it took me a few episodes to get completely involved in BoB too.

ETA: Yes, you should watch it. It's an incredibly well made piece of television.

My only complaint is that John Basilone's (spelling) story did not fit in with the rest of the series.

It was a great series. Don't go in comparing it to BoB, otherwise you might be upset. I have no idea why people keep comparing them. The Pacific is not trying to be like BoB, yet people keep comparing them to eachother. They are two completely different shows.

I enjoyed this series a lot.

When I was describing it to a friend, I said that BOB showed what kind of heroes the guys were. You got to watch the glory they receieved from victory. There wasn't much glory in the Pacific. This was more about the terrible crap they went through. I loved both series, and take them for separate things.

As you should.

People get too caught up thinking because it's from the same people that made BoB, it is going to be another BoB; maybe even a better BoB! Then when it turns out not to be anything like BoB, it sucks

All in all, I believe The Pacific makes you have a greater appreciation of the men and women who fought for our freedoms than does BoB.

The folks in the Pacific went through absolute HELL ON EARTH when they were in combat....

I enjoyed it but the secondary characters seemed to be thrown in there (with the exception of Snafu). At the end when they did the "what happened to them after the war" I didn't even recognize half of the guys.
