How is this not illegal?
That was my question. A lot of top shark scientists, including Valerie Taylor, signed a petition railing discovery for sensationalizing sharks for Shark Week several years ago. Clearly, DCI doesn't give a shite.

And today, there is almost nothing educational about any of their channels.

Even the SharkWeek twitter is trolling

Holy shite!! I just went and watched some over the lunch break to see if it got better after I tuned out last night, it somehow got worse!! The Shark After Dark thing? What the frick!!

"No need for credible scientists or researchers discussing interesting shark-related material, we'll just get an illiterate a-hole with no shirt and a drunken moonshine aficionado to discuss how they would rather not swim with 'them things'. It'll be perfect."

I was gonna give them another chance tonight but frick you Discovery.

Yeah, I watched some of that. Guy thinks he's Daniel Tosh and the comedy sketches were incredibly stupid, like some shitty local access guy who thinks he's funny.

Discovery has lost it.

I don't really mind him not being funny, hell I didn't find Andy Sandberg funny on shark week and I usually think he's hilarious. I just can't stand the idea of them using what is supposed to be educational programming as a sounding board to promote crap reality television. Of the two guests, one wasn't wearing a fricking shirt and the other was (at least pretending to be) drunk. Once again, Discovery.

Watching this last night I hated it. However, thinking about it today I am wondering if my disappointment comes from the fact that after witnessing Sharknado all things shark related have lost it's luster in comparison?

Facebook is destroying Discovery. I'm interested in how much their ratings drop this year.

I'm seeing a disturbing trend in the way TV and especially the news is presented. It started when DCI went full retard under new management a few years ago and now, CNN under its "new management" are a total sellout propaganda machine. The Trayvon coverage was really disturbing.

I'm sure we'll be "buying that for a dollar" any day now, if we haven't gotten there already.

Well this explains it:

Discovery Channel seeking lowest common denominator

Looks like they're going for the duck dynasty and honey boo boo audience rather than genuinely curious science enthusiasts. It's a damn shame but at least there's the science channel and nat geo. RIP Discovery.

Wow, that's sad. It used to be such a go to network for people of all ages, especially families. Now they just want to serve the growing white trash, welfare dependent TV junkie crowd.

It's all going this way, eventually. People don't want to be enriched. They want to watch tatted trash bicker with each other.

Voodoo shark tonight has a friend of mine in it. His name is Eric and he is a character to say the least.

The show on now is much better. Actually educational. They are tagging great whites and a camera will follow it in the water.
