Wait... for people that are watching this series late, like myself I thought the movie was the pilot? Everything I've read, the order is Serenity then the series? I'm screwed cause I watched the movie first, then the next 2 episodes...

The pilot is called Serenity as well. The movie was sold separately. You should be OK.

sometimes wonder if every time FOX headquarters gets an angry phone call, the ensuing conversation goes something like this:
Call center operator 1: Thank you for your call, sir... -click-
Call center trainee: Wow, what was all that screaming about?
Operator: Oh, just another guy who finished Firefly.
That was a funny post.
But the only thing about that is, how many of us actually watched Firefly back when it aired on Fox? I mean they cut it because it didn't get much support. Pretty much everyone of my friends love the series, but not a single one of us watched it when it aired on Fox.

Ahh cool. Appreciate that. It's well done so far.

OK, so I finally watched this movie, thanks to everybody for the recommendation; I really enjoyed it. Some thoughts as promised:
*SPOILERS*
It was a hell of a movie and it did give me some closure on the series. I also liked how The Captain was more like he was in the pilot--darker, edgier--than the jolly merry old Captain they made him as the series went on.
I was pretty pissed about The Shepard. All those hints during the series about his past and who he really might be and we got nothing! That sucked because closure on his story was one thing I was hoping for most out of the movie.
There were some continuity problems but they mostly didn't bug me because I understood the situation but one stood out to me: The doctor and his sister were back to being outsiders on the ship instead of part of the crew. During the series, Mal made it clear that he viewed the Dr. as a part of his crew/family. He was ready to kill Jayne during the series just for crossing them. But suddenly in the movie their position was back to where it was around episode 3--expendable outsiders.
Another curious thing I had was about the Reavers and what caused them to be that way: If the Reavers were created by a chemical/drug, how was it possible during the series for the guy who was left on the ship that got slaughtered by the Reavers to turn himself into one after watching what they did to his shipmates? If a Reaver is created by a chemical experiment, it wouldn't be possible for a normal human to turn into one without being exposed to that same chemical, right?
All in all, I'm really glad I got the chance to have one more fix of Firefly before letting it go forever...
Although the story seemed like a hasty rush to put a seal on the series, I understand the situation and they did about as well as they could have.

I said earlier I had two complaints, that I wanted more Preacher and I wouldn't tell the other as to not spoil it for you. I can't for the life of me think of what I wanted to say.
But I did want Captain and Anala to bone. That would have been a nice bonus. A Lil bow chica wow wow. I waiting for that the whole time.

quote:Yeah. Same here, but at least they gave us a hint that it was gonna go down. I mean, if the Cap can't close with a hooker, he has no business leading a crew.

It was just mean-spirited, killing him off screen. He deserved a better ending than that. Wash gets me angry, but at least he was in the film, you know?

quote:Yeah, seriously. I mean, they take my favorite character and just have him found mortally wounded in some smoldering remains? No blaze of glory? No revelations? Nothing? By far the biggest miscarriage of justice in the movie.
