Yeah, it came out when I was in high school and we went to see it with an extracurricular club. It was powerful. I'm not sure I've ever made myself watch the full thing in one sitting since then.
If your son (or you) is interested in more reading, it's pretty fascinating how the movie got made. A survivor living in Los Angeles pestered anyone he met in Hollywood about making a movie about his hero Schindler. Finally got an Australian writer to write the book Schindler's Ark and began the process.

Can't believe this thread isn't stickied. Just shows the anti-semitism that runs rampant on this website.

I watched Schindler s list for the first time in sixth grade as a 11 year old. Goes to show how times changed

I was in high school when it came out. My school gave every kid a free ticket to see the movie. Very powerful movie but I think I have only seen once since the first time.

Just got home. Numbed. Just numbed. Was really good. Just can't really describe what I just watched yet. Been awhile since a movie moved me so.

SL and Saving Private Ryan are two movies I insisted my two daughters watched. A lot could be solved with the millennial generation if more parents did this.

Never watched it.

Spielberg would film Schindler's List during the day and edit Jurassic Park at night.
I think I heard him say something like editing Jurassic Park at the same time helped keep him from really getting too depressed during filming.

I am a huge war movie/history lover and was watching SPR and Band of Brothers when I was 14/15ish. Oddly, I made it almost through college before I ever saw SL, and I don’t know how I missed it for so long. Still remember watching it with my gf in college one night just laying in bed and she literally bawled the last 20 minutes, but we both really liked it/was in shock.
I wouldn’t put it in the same vein as Requiem, as that movie is good, but I legit have zero desire to watch it again, it’s so stressful to sit through. SL is a movie that does best with multiple rewatches spaced decently apart. People may disagree on when spielberg’s peak period of films were, but for me, his impact on historical dramas was one of the best.
