I really enjoyed the movie. Only problem I had was Kunis. She started off ok, but as the Wicked Witch it just didn't do it for me.

Where? How?
In the 1st movie it is clear that all three are the same.

He is the only one who gets to see the Wiz regularly, because the Wiz doesn't want his secret revealed. He is the guard to control/limit access to himself as the Wizard.

I thought this was generally understood?

Someone will bring up the books but this movie is clearly drawing from the 1939 film
Yes.

But they call it a "spiritual" prequel. . .since the 39 musical was but a spiritual adaptation.

Not enough murder and combat.

No because why would he be driving a carriage and guarding the gate to the city at the same time as being the wizard and the guy who speaks for him

Just saw it and i loved it. Franco was great but came off a bit cheesy when doing his magician act stuff (probably by design)

When Mila turned into the Mask, i thought that was poorly done but other than that, not many complaints

It seemed like a long arse movie though

Professor Marvel.

The "Mean old Bat" was Elmira Gulch. (Margaret Hamilton, the Wicked Witch of the West) BTW, who remembers MH playing "Mrs.Olsen" in the 70's Folgers Coffee commercials?

Plot Hole: Since the entire Oz sequenxe was just a dream by Dorothy in the original, there is no basis in reality for the sequel since everything took place in the dream state. Does the current sequel open with Dorothy having another dream?

Professor Marvel.
And he was The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy got there.

He also had the turban, and had a balloon.

My dad refuses to watch the original Wizard of Oz because the flying monkeys scared him shitless as a kid

I need to trick him into going to this one, those were 5028203 times scarier than the original he might have a heart attack

Exactly. People shitting on the movie need to relax. Sorry it doesn't fit "canon" for you.

It's a family film, just like it was in 1939. I love the original to this day and I can see little kids still loving this version when they are older. I liked this version a good bit outside of the horrible Kunas/witch character.
