1.) Old Yeller Getting Shot

2.) Where the Red Fern Grows

3.) Celie meeting her kids in "The Color Purple."

4.) Emma Thompson's death scene in "Wit." (My mother had just died of the same horrible disease when I watched this movie)

5.) When Denzel Washington blows up Josh Brolin's Shelby Cobra GT500KR in "American Gangster." How could any man do that to such a sweet car! That really hurt my heart.

Of Mice and Men

Schindler's List

Steel Magnolias--not sure which is worse, the actual turning off of the machine, the funeral, or Shelby's mom rushing to hug baby Jack, Jr. right after she dies.

Are we depressed enough yet?

The scene in "Radio" when he finds out that his mom died. That was a pretty tough scene.

I agree with those scenes from Steel Magnolias, and the Titanic scene when the old people are holding each other as they know they are going to die.

Since a lot of obvious scenes have already been taken...anybody remember the scene in Crimson Tide when Denzel orders Rick Schroeder to seal the flooding bay, and dooming the sailors still trapped inside? A great scene...in a very depressing kind of way.

Hope Floats, when Bernice wants to go with her daddy and he just locks the door on the car and leaves her crying in the street.

I agree with this. That was very sad

My son stopped watching after the first scene with the dog. "Well, I can see what's going to happen to the dog. I don't need to see that."

For some reason the movie goes downhill for me after that. It just gets too depressing.
