I hated that character and now I can't stand the actor. He just seems like a whiny little b**ch.

Jake Gyllenhaal in JarHead.
I can't watch any movie he's in since this. It's all about his character in Jarhead. I watched that movie and all of his sniveling and freaking out and just wanted to set him on fire. Maybe it was the script based off of the book by a Marine who had some issues. Maybe it was how the director told him to play the role. Whatever it was, after Jarhead I avoid any movie Jake is in. I am a Desert Storm Vet. I was there driving my tank around those same areas including those burning oil fields. His portrayal of what happened and how we handled it just pissed me off.

Justified actually redeemed two of my hated actors.

That movie was terrible IMO. From the patronizing lecture he gives to Kristen Stewart's character, to having Emile look directly into the camera lens at one point, to the constant smirking... just a frick load of pretentiousness from Hirsch and his director Sean Penn.

Well I guess that's your opinion. Made me want to drop everything and hit the road. Seemed like a very freeing lifestyle; up until he died of course.

I won't argue with that. He did do a great job at playing the character. Maybe that's why I can't stand the actor. The character was such a whiny little shite that I just associate Paul Dano with it every time I see him.
