But,Raging Bull is a better boxing movie.

Raging Bull has as much to do about boxing as the OJ Simpson documentary "Made in America" has to do about football. Yeah, Raging Bull is a biographical movie about a boxer but boxing itself plays a very, very small role in the film.

Now, the best one on a Louisiana sports board is a Louisiana based sports movie.

Is cycling a sport? It also had football, if you consider Indiana football, football.

There is probably twice as much ring footage of film in Raging Bull than Rocky.

Raging Bull is now at # 4 on AFI's top 100 films of all time, and the only other movie in that list that involves fist or balls is...Rocky at #57.

My fav sports movies are actually the darker, more depressimg ones, which are not as plentiful. Most sports isn't storybook or happy endings after all.

I'm going to agree and disagree. Rocky and The Bad News Bears are the greatest sports movies of all time. Both in 1976, coincidentally.

I read Bernard Malamud's novel The Natural long after I had seen the Robert Redford movie several times. I was surprised at how much darker it was, especially the end. It's a great movie, but I liked the novel better.
