He was a massive comic book fan. He was best friends with Bill Mumy from Lost in Space and co-wrote comics with Mumy. He was a voice actor for DC's animated features (and the live action Justice League TV movie), and was the go-to voice and actor for The Weather Wizard (among others).

When you're Hollywood royalty, you get to be a super-fan.

Back: Bill Mumy of Lost in Space and Twilight Zone
Couch: Jack Kirby (co-creator of the Marvel Universe), Jerry Siegel (co-creator of Superman), Bob Kane (co-creator of Batman), Miguel
Floor: Luke (The Joker) Skywalker

They actually wrote his cancer into the show with his character dying of cancer.

Art imitating life I guess.

Son of Jose Ferrer, who starred in the Caine Mutiny. A Few Good Men could only wish its courtroom scene was half as good.
