I'm simply showing the hypocrisy of people. I am going to the midnight of The Hobbit with an open mind. I love the original Lord of the Rings movies and have high hopes for The Hobbit. However, I started doubting the artistic credibility of the filmmakers when they decided to turn the films into a trilogy. It's a 300-page book that should have, at most, been made into two films.

im sick of the 300 page book/3 movie argument, they are not making the movies on JUST the book, they are incorporating things from the appendices of LOTR and I believe, also showing things that were only alluded to in the book (like what gandalf is doing when he inst with them)

LULZ about the plot. One of the greatest books but the plot is bad. Tell me morz

Please tell me where I said the plot of the hobbit was bad.

What I said was I fully expected the Hobbit to not get great reviews because of the expectations/preconceived notions/fact that there has already been 3 movies created on a similar subject. Anything short of spectacular and movie snobs are going to give it a "good not great" review. The Hobbit really can't bring that much more to the table that LOTR hasn't already. It is a great quest story but the WOW factor will not be there and thus I expected mediocre reviews. The Hobbit very well could be more enjoyable for JRR Tolkien fans but the fact of the matter is 3 movies have already been made and thus you have 3 films for critics to compare to.

I will have a boner the entire movie.

It can't be as good or consistently interesting as LOTR.

I've always found The Hobbit itself to be far superior to The Lord of the Rings, but this three movie situation has me doubting how good it will be. One movie would have been perfect. It's not like it hasn't worked before.

So do that in the EXTENDED EDITIONS. A lot of the reviews I have read from people who have read the book have said that these additional scenes really hurt the pacing of the film and that they have NOTHING to do with the overall story arc of the movie. They're essentially just easter eggs for the fans. There's a reason why Tolkein put those little side-stories into the appendices.

From any movie ever made? Or just the Tolkien series?

The Hobbit would be a little easier to stay true to than the LOTR series.

I think everyone can agree that the critic who said the plot sucks is a grade "a" moron. The plot is based on a classic of the genre that has survived decades. If you don't like the plot, then you probably don't like the genre, and why the frick did you see the movie in the first place? It's probably just someone being negative for the sake of being negative.

Kind of like the prequel trilogy for Star Wars?

No, because the prequels suck even if you've never seen the original trilogy.

I have come to the conclusion that the people who continue to make the comment about the book only being 300 pages and not mentioning the appendices to LOTR are merely trolling. It's been said enough times that everyone knows it by now. So I ignore them.

It is just like the thread about the new World of Warcraft extension involving pandas. The commercial made everyone think it was the next Kung Fu Panda and a lot of trolls (myself included) egged on the World of Warcraft gamers by repeatedly referring to it as the Kung Fu Panda game.
