If you have Amazon Prime and you’re a student of history that Russian TV show about Rasputin is outstanding. It’s in Russian with English subtitles but it’s worth the watch. I think Rasputin May have really had healing powers. I’m not certain but there is strong evidence. It’s also very interesting to see how the Romanov’s lived and the Russian aristocrats. I strongly recommend this show.

Thanks for making a thread, I didn't know about this. Rasputin has always been one of the most interesting historical figures, in my opinion. I'll have to check this out.

And that dick.

Geez. They say it was so fricking big, it had it's own heart and lungs. I mean the thing was the size of a baby's arm or some shite. Bun length it was.

I don't really know a whole lot about Rasputin, mostly just from Listening to one of Dan Carlie's podcasts about WWI. But after hearing him described in the podcast, the way he acted and his eventual death, I had this idea to try and write a fiction book about Rasputin being something like the antichrist or a demon of some sort. His entire purpose would be to bring down the royal family and draw Russia into complete chaos.

I’m serious y’all please watch this show I binge watched it and I couldn’t stop. Rasputin told the royal family that after the royal family killed him there would be a group of despots that would take over Russia and kill all the aristocrats. Well that part came true. Rasputin was a strange dude but he had some kind of supernatural power.

A lot of lore around Rasputin. Hell, even the assassination story is interesting. They tried to poison him and it wasn't working.

I visited the cellar of the Yusupov Palace. Very cool tour.

This has always been the most interesting part for me. Poisoning him was just one of the things they tried. fricker wouldn't die.

Poisoned and shot multiple times, then thrown in the icy river. Legend has it when they pulled his body from the river his lungs had water in them.

His death along with his supposed healing powers and crazy behavior would make for a great historical fiction.

If you named a kid Rasputin, do you think that would have a negative effect on his life?

I remember hearing awhile back that there was going to be a film with DiCaprio playing Rasputin. I got pretty excited about it but haven't heard anything more about it.

Will check this out. Always been interested in Rasputin

Rasputin was a staunch supporter of the Imperial Family.

His healing powers were basically sit and talk and be calm with a hemophiliac boy. Which helped him through the brusing swelling bleeding phases.

They were his patron. And he used his closeness with them to receive bribes and eventually put other I'll prepared people into positions of power.

Gotta remember the context of Russia during WWII was it was just at the endpoint side of a cultural occult awakening with lots of spiritualist running around.

All to the backdrop of Yankee Doodle dandy on the gramophone. Seriously.

It’s titled “Rasputin” and it has 8 episodes. A Russian actor named Vladimir Mashkov plays Rasputin and he does a great job pulling off that role. I hope at least a couple of you try and give the show a shot. Amazon Prime has a great foreign selection of shows.
