I still can't get over how much they fricked up the ending of DH2.
Now that one, I did walk out of early. I hated the Epilogue to the book, and I just assume it was as cringe worthy (if not more so) as it was in the books, so I didn't feel like sitting through it after the bullshite ending.
And it's such a shame too. Deathly Hallows was pretty much a perfect adaptation before the end. I really like Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows since it was a great adaptation. It actually was tonally different and brought something new to the table, so I'm sad to see so many people putting it so low on their lists.
I really wish they could have convinced Cuaron to come back for the final 3 movies. They should have filmed all 3 of them simultaneously "Lord of the Rings" style with him at the helm. There's no way HBP would have been as big of a cluster frick, since they would know wasting time with Ron and Hermione means nothing in this and it's important to focus on Voldemort's past, the Horcruxes, and Snape. Not only should HBP have been darker in tone, but in style, and I'd have it whenever a scene could take place at night, make it do so. Cuaron also almost certainly would have fought the studios over a Hollywood bullshite ending that we were given.
Really, this should have been the tone of the entire HBP, but I think when Yates saw the final edit and realized how much he fricked it up, he knew this scene tonally clashed with the rest of the movie. This should have been the defining scene tonally of the movie: LINK
