Just curious, why do some of you hate the fourth one so much?

Its not even the whole movie so much. It was that entire chase through the jungle scene...
sword fighting between cars while repetitively being hit in the nutsack, terrible CGI, intentionally driving off a cliff to land on a tree to lower into water, falling down multiple waterfalls, and the fricking horrendous swinging on vines with monkeys.
I mean seriously, who in their right mind thought any and all of that would be a good idea????????????????????? I was shocked and appalled. Eliminate that, and it wasnt so bad a movie.

During the first hour of the movie I actually remember being pleasantly surprised. That extended jungle chase did me in for good. I could have maybe even stomached the man eating ants and the alien at the end easier.

The action in the other movies seemed more realistic. This movie just had some absurd scenes. Surviving a nuclear bomb blast in a fridge, comes to mind. And the previous mentioned jungle scene. This movie was just to "cartoonish", and to Indiana Jones'ed up. It was like they had to force different Indie aspects into the movie.

That's exactly how I felt. Those gopher scenes in the beginning were kind of cartoonish too IMO.

The plot was stupid
The script was stupid
The CGI ants and monkeys
Nuking the fridge
I fricking hate that aggrivating kid who gratefully seems to have fallen off the face of the earth (at least temporarily)
Oh yeah...IT HAD frickING MARTIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KoCS had a good storyline. They messed it up with the unbelievable (in a bad way) action scenes. Just too over the top.
Didn't mind the martians, etc. All of the IJ movies are a little hokey like that.

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. Last Crusade
3. Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull are on the same level IMO. Although I still enjoyed both films. My only criticism of Crystal Skull was the jungle vine swinging and waterfall scenes.

I've actually never seen KotCS, but based on the info. I've heard from people that I trust, I'm just going to pretend they never made it.

Raiders and Crusade are classics. Temple of Doom I can barely tolerate. Yeah, the end was good, but everything leading up to it was horrible. Willie just made me want to throw my remote control through the screen. She wasn't charming, likable, pitiable, or any other emotion Speilberg was trying to con out of us. She was just annoying and a nuisance throughout the movie. She made Short Round a relief in the film. I honestly liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls more than Temple of Doom, solely because the characters were much better in it, despite the aliens.

Last Crusade - Sean Connery was money
Raiders
Temple of Doom
Kingdom - Didnt think it was terrible, but it had a lot of wasted potential.

:iagreewiththis:
The aliens wouldn't have been that big of a deal if the rest of the movie wasn't so campy. All the other films have some supernatural/ fictitious element to them.
However, the proof that aliens do exists open up all kinds of issues in the Indie universe. It went from Ark of the Covenant to Holy grail... to aliens? Beside form a whole religion vs. science issue, this also leaves open the possibility of an Indiana Jones in Space. Spielberg and Lucas hook up to make a retarded love child of two popular brands.

Raiders - Classic
Crusade - Good, very entertaining
Doom - a distant 3rd because of some weak special effects. Still on the same scale of believability of the 1st two editions.
Crystal Crap - One of the biggest disappointments I ever paid for at a movie theatre. Martians? Surving a Nuclear blast in a refrigerator? They really blew it big time.
