I watched that movie before, and just watched it again, and noticed something interesting. Why does Chigurh always take his socks and shoes off after he kills people in the hotel rooms?

I only remember him doing it once. I figured he just took them off cause they had blood on them.

Didn't like the movie and didn't notice it.

I noticed it only once also, and I thought he did it because there was blood on them maybe, and also to make less sound as he walked door to door looking for the money after

nice contribution to the thread

to the OP, not sure what exactly you're referring to. When he kills woody harrilson's character, I'm pretty sure his boots are still on (I think I remember them being on when the pool of blood is running towards his feet and he lifts them up just before). Other scenes at hotel rooms, he takes his boots off and walks in his socks so that he can be real quiet, they won't hear him sneaking up to their door.

He takes them off after leaving carla's house at the end presumably because he just killed her and got his boots messy.

that's all I remember.

I read the book and interestingly, in the book he's not wearing boots, but rather penny loafers and a cardigan. He takes the penny loafers off because he thinks they make him look gay. He leaves the hotel room wearing clown shoes, with no explanation of where they came from.

I think it had more to do with him not wanting blood on his shoes whether this was because of some psychotic issue or whether he it was that he didn't want any evidence of the crime on him. They showed several instances of this where he nonchalantly lifted up his feet when that blood was pooling towards him or when he shut the shower curtain before shooting the drug dealer at close range.
