Is there something I am missing about this? TIA
Not really. It's just their thing. And to the number of episodes per season: There are 16 episodes per season. There are only 2 left before they go into a two month "half time" so to speak.

Thanks for the heads up. Probably better that way. Interesting piece of writing, giving them inside jokes that the viewers aren't even in on, it helps make them one of the better duos on TV right now.

I never thought the word "what" could be so damn funny.

they are the best duo on tv imo. Only other duo that seems to come close to them right now is Castle and Beckett on "Castle".
Now that I think about it, two detective shows that don't take themselves too seriously. A winning formula methinks.

I thought this last episode was lacking a bit. Don't get me wrong, still solid overall, but not as good/funny as others. I thought Shatner did a great job though.

I lol'd at the Shatner / Shawn chest bump.

that cracked me up as well...and the whole thing with:
"I wasn't born on the 4th of July"
"or yesterday"
"or to run"

In "The Tao of Gus," a woman, Nicole (Diora Baird), claims to have witnessed a murder. Naturally, only Shawn and Gus believe her and to keep her safe, they stash her at a remote hippie commune called the Box Canyon Ranch.
Diedrich Bader also guest stars as the head of the commune, Eli.

Diora Baird + hippie commune + Shawn and Gus
= Awesomeness
You just know Inappropriate Gus is going to show up tonight
