In a million years, I'll never EVER understand this mindset. We're talking about a characters that's been around since the 60s and has a very specific look in a visual medium...but we're gonna' pretend we all don't understand this and act like there is NO ONE that actually looks the part that could also be a damn good actor that could play the role well.
And then, we'll turn around and point to fantastic casting choices based entirely on the fact that the actor looks a tremendous amount like the character they've been cast to play.

This is exactly why I always roll my eyes at these fan casts begging for Cillian Murphy as Doom. He’s an incredible actor but he’s like 5’6 lol. Doom should be handled just like Darth Vader. An absolute tank in his armor, booming robotic sounding voice, has everyone’s attention the moment he walks into a room, and absolutely HAS to keep his mask on at all times unless he’s alone.
The Ultimate Alliance video game from a couple of years ago was literally the perfect portrayal of Doom
