sold 50 million fewer tickets than MOS so cultural impact is zero. This peripheral market you keep referencing doesn’t exist.
1) this isn’t the comic book movie golden age anymore. Post-Covid fewer films hit the billion mark, but this movie did not “bomb” or “flop”. Otherwise Gunn wouldn’t be writing a sequel right now
2) cultural impact is zero is crazy. Punkrocker has been a trending song for a month and Peacemaker (which moves the DCU forward) intro has billions of views on TikTok. People are starting to love DC characters again

As the cornerstone for his rebooted universe, it absolutely needed to be a 5 star effort. A walk off grand slam.
It was, in his own words, a ground rule double.
Anyone who can't see that is soaking in cope.

Unfortunately budgets are still pre-Covid. And that’s the rub. It’s not as successful as MOS.
Does anyone think that supergirl or swamp thing is going to have better margins than Superman?

Awesome, how many max subscriptions has it sold?

I don’t know, ask Gunn yourself. You trying to say the show isn’t successful either?

The entire argument here is that king called it a bomb and flop. Stop making shite up that we aren’t saying

I wasn't referring to Madking, but James Gunn himself.
“No, I’d be very happy with a double. F****** Iron Man wasn’t the be-all and end-all. It wasn’t Avatar. We are doing something that’s a piece of the puzzle. It’s not the puzzle itself. We have Peacemaker, we have Supergirl, and what we want to do is make a movie that people love, they feel connected to the characters. It’s just this one movie. It’s not everything." - James Gunn, via Rolling Stone

So…back to talking about the actual show in the OP, I really enjoyed Season 1. Looking forward to Season 2. Love Cena in this role and who all is back from the cast.

I’m really looking forward to the new girl who’s playing Sasha Bordeaux and Grillo.
It seems like Flagg Sr will be used similar to a Nick Fury and Bordeaux has a history with Batman in the comics. She probably will have some important moments later on in other projects

Hate to break it everyone but Gunn’s DCU is already toast. If WB had any brains they’d fire him tomorrow and pour their efforts into The Batman and Penguin universe then build out from those characters. Superman bombed, Peacemaker won’t move the needle, Robbie or not.
I get that Gunn is your typical libtard Hollywood person and says dumbass things but he consistently puts out enjoyable weird heartwarming movies that make money.
I’m a conservative…it’s ok to admit he’s pretty good at what he does while still thinking he’s a retard off the set.

I had fun watching Superman but it’s not a Superman movie so it didn’t get the repeat views or excitement from the core fans. It has nothing to do with Gunn’s worldview, it’s that the one kind of movie he makes can be light and fun but they aren’t interesting and don’t really align with the character.

I'm starting to think this will be one of the cameos. It sounds like he'll be playing Booster Gold

I’d disagree that they aren’t interesting. I can say that the can deviate from canon and be an obscure take but outside of The Suicide Squad, I feel like they all have a certain degree of humanity and heart that many lack.
Not agreeing with everything that he conveys but there is a human condition that he invokes to most of his work and I can appreciate.
It’s a mile from my favorite MCU movie but the end of GotGv3 was the most cathartic I’ve ever felt at the end of a comic book movie.

Well I’d argue that the Guardians 1 and 2 are his only movies that had interesting dynamics in them.
