the acting in this movie was phenomenal.

The dad and the daughter particularly were outstanding.

I haven’t had a chance to see it, but I really want to. Is it available anywhere for streaming?

It’s available to buy on Amazon Prime and a few other platforms to stream for $15. Seems like most of his work has been on Netflix at some point, but that’ll probably be a while for Parasite considering it’s still playing in a lot of theatres

Saw 1917 today for first time. Amazing film that will be remembered.

However I still give the nod to Parasite for best picture. Give all the other awards to 1917.

1a Parasite
1b 1917

I keep thinking this is the picture Jordan Peele wishes he'd made.

This movie is incredibly overrated. I went in with high expectations after reading this thread and was pretty let down. Most of the key parts of the plot didn’t really make any sense whatsoever. I have absolutely zero desire to watch this movie again. Beginning was great but went to shite quick. Ending was awful. Was a decent movie but certainly not a 'masterpiece.' 6.5/10

ETA: it was a really well done in regards to acting, but many parts of the story just baffled me and really didn’t make any logical sense whatsoever. The entire movie took place in pretty much one location, so couldn’t have been that expensive to produce. No way do I think this is the best movie of the year. Very original, definitely, but that and the acting is about all it has going for it imo. Kind of shocked by how good people thought it was on this board and rated on imdb, but then again, people go crazy here for friggin Marvel movies. But then again, what do I know?

Not sure. What was confusing or baffling?

You might want to try watching it for the first time because by your description, I'm not sure you did. There were no confusing plot points in this film.

Without giving away any spoilers, I thought it was pretty good and intriguing until the family winds up in the mansion. The plot suddenly shifts at this point, which is very interesting at first but the main points are illogical and very hard to believe and even kind of ridiculous, especially the ending.

I think I went into the movie with such high expectations, the unrealistic plot really threw me off. A well done movie and far from bad, but definitely not amazing or worthy of an oscar imo.

Are you the kind of person who only really likes movies that are extremely realistic? If so, I can see how someone would be thrown off by the last 30 mins or so. The last half of the movie is a halfway horror movie, and most of those aren’t very realistic. It that’s one of the reasons I like this movie, it’s a blend of like 3 different genres

think I went into the movie with such high expectations,

-It's a movie. And it is really well done.

the unrealistic plot really threw me off.
-how so? I mean the end is crazy, but it's a movie.

A well done movie and far from bad, but definitely not amazing or worthy of an oscar imo.
-so what is the better movie this year?

This movie had a plot, was directed very well, and goes off the rails in the exact medaphorically way you would expect.

The movie really had something to say in a way that was profound in its simplicity. Just the act of the rich family commenting on and being put off by the way the poor family smelled. Then to see the shame and hurt it brought to the father. It was very emotionally devastating to me. Then I thought, yeah, I’ve done that to people before myself.

It also didn’t portray one side as the good side and one the bad side. The poor family screwing over the then employed people of the family so they could make a buck
