If there are no weapons there (so everyone thinks) then why does the President need a full SS detail? Why not just a bodyguard?

Racking my brain on how it isn't her. She has motive & knows that Billy disabled security footage for video games. Just can't imagine her bashing a skull. Did any of the flashbacks show his tablet being out of the safe before he bought it? Yeah definitely a lot more twists coming, show is riveting so far.

So what are we thinking it was that ended the world? I'm assuming an asteroid, since they knew about it for a while.

Asteroid hitting Antarctica causing major ice disruption/melt.

The father may have done it but i'm thinking the SS chick did it for Sinatra, a perfect super villain. I can't figure out how the girl got the tablet, and what's on the tablet that they can access.

I'm going to look for a good screen shot of the tablet when the President was reading it, but I did get the gist of it I think.

I paused on that scene and could see some stuff about atmospheric changes and the explosion of either a super volcano or a bunch of super volcanos.

Not sure if there was more to it than that. Looking forward to reading the reddit pages on this when I have some time. I love this show so far. Great mix of flashbacks to keep our favorite dead characters still involved. Love the mystery and I'm a sucker for end of days type scenarios. I just hope they don't move too fast to get out of the bunker. I enjoy seeing what "normal" life is for the survivors.

I did pick up on Sinatra saying if others found out where they were they would be in danger. That seems to set up some kind of conflict with outsiders for maybe future seasons if not the end of this season. I also think Xavier's wife will be alive out in the destroyed earth at some point.

Climate changes thinned out ice sheets. The thin ice sheets can no longer provide enough resistance to hold in magma from volcanoes, which erupt. Super volcanoes in Alaska and potentially Antarctica are specifically mentioned as world ending similar to asteroid impact. Predictions were coasts would be hit with 1500 foot waves and total destruction.

I'm sure there's more to it. Some guesses that nukes were used somehow and that would explain high radiation levels.

We'll have to see what the messaging is inside the show. Most reasonable people agree that climate change is happening...as it's happened for billions of years. We are currently at the end of an ice age so it should come as no surprise that the earth can warm up. The normal argument is how much is man made or preventable and not a topic I want to go into on the Movie TV board.

I'm no expert by any means and just read a few things about this today. But there appears to be a correlation between melting ice caps and volcanic activity. Whether there's causation or not I don't know, but it would make for an interesting scenario for a doomsday movie/show. How they handle the reason for the climate change could turn either side off. I can probably deal with either scenario as long as it's not an obvious overarching political message.

I wouldn't be surprised if the President gave the tablet to Presley to give to her dad because Xavier is the only person the President trusted. Seems like he knew that his life was in danger.

If true the circumstances will be interesting as to why she was there (video games make sense) and what the President was going through. It looks like he was wounded and managed to live and crawl around after at least one blow, even marking the cigarette pack, before he died.

While plausible, why would she have hid it from her Dad this long and not given it him immediately when she was found out the President was dead? She doesn't go to the tablet until she finds out Billy is dead and she then goes to it immediately.

Another scenario, Sinatra tells the female agent to murder Cal after meeting with him that afternoon. The female agent commits the murder with the plan being to set Billy up to take the fall, knowing he would likely be the first to discover the body. Billy finds the body, figures Sinatra was setting him up to take the fall for the murder, so he grabs the tablet but he doesn't tell the female SS agent (who he still thinks is innocent) about the body.

The next morning, he has the female agent take his shift so that he isn't on site when the body is found. He had already grabbed the tablet, and was able to leave with it when Collins showed up to relieve him. He gave the tablet to the daughter at some point later when he realizes Sinatra will be after him.

If you recall, he didn't seem too surprised when Collins told him about the murder,
