They've previously completely ignored PTA's films for nominations, so, yeah, any nominations this gets will be due exclusively to the hilarious white supremacist secret society.

Saw it last night, and really enjoyed it. DiCaprio was excellent, imo. The interactions with Comrade Josh were hilarious

Was a Nightmare on Elm Street portrayed by the media as a commentary on today's society?

No idea. I don't look to media to tell me how I should watch a movie.

Well it wasn't. It was entertainment, portrayed as entertainment.

I don't either. I do look at what the actual movie is trying to push and if it's a political narrative in the guise of "it's just a story", then i do not watch and make fun of the woke mind rot in the process.

I think There Will Be Blood is fairly universally enjoyed on this board even though its a clear critique of both capitalism, religion, and the ways both allow people to gain power and then abuse it once they obtain it.

A big difference to me between it and a lot of the movies we've seen lately is that there is still nuance in TWWB where it doesn't exist in more modern movies with a "message". There were good, honest people in that movie who were portrayed as such representing both sides of the "feud" between religion and capitalism that the movie shows... the Bandys (I think that is their name) who own the tract of land that Plainview wants are true beleivers in the religion. And Plainview's son for the capitalist side... what Plainview saw as weakness was actually just his honesty.

By contrast, nowadays there is a clear moral "Good" position and a clear moral "bad" one. The bad is almost always someone right wing or religious.

Just saw it this afternoon. Starts slow and boring. Almost walked out twice. The chase ending saved it. The movie could have been under two hours.

This movie is the opposite. It's a classic story dressed up in the guise of topical politics

Another awful PTA movie. He hasn’t made a coherent movie since Their Will be Blood. The man just can’t tell a coherent story.

It will absolutely be adored at the Oscars because of its praise of leftist violence.
