I like running zombies. They make it better imo.
But the reason I don't like running in this os because the book extremely clearly says zombies don't run.
That's an interesting perspective. Running zombies per se = okay, unless it's to do with the book.

Personally, I look at what zombies are supposed to represent (i.e. mindless consumers and other trained humans) and this is not the traditional aesthetic that fits this description.

However, since the idiocracy seems to be more rapidly approaching, I think fast zombies are the appropriate trend. Don't like it? Raise the testing standards.

HBO is doing pretty well lately. I don't disagree with that notion.

In all fairness, illiterate is used a helluva lot more. Not many people are told they are still able to read in an insult these days.

I think being able to read and refusing is just as bad as not being able to read.

I agree. Just stating it really isn't used often. Maybe because most don't even know the definition of the word.

The book was okay. When I read it in college I thought it was the greatest thing ever. After reading it again years later, it didn't really stand up.

There is almost a growing resentment in the horror writing community that Max Brooks is known as the "king of zombies" while his only real contribution is this one book and the Zombie Survival Guide (which is found in the comedy section at bookstores). He actually put out a book of short works a few months ago and it's gotten no traction. And short story he places in an anthology is just another excerpt from the "Zombie War." It's just getting stale. With writers like Jonathan Maberry and Joe McKinney leading the way with zombie literature, someone like Max Brooks steals headlines because of his famous last name.

All that said, I'll check out the movie. One of my all time favorites is the remake of Dawn of the Dead and they made running zombies work. Brad Pitt is a great actor and the story could be interesting.

Glad you popped up in this thread been meaning to ask you if you listen to "We're Alive?" And if so what do you think about it? I figured this would be a good time to ask seeing as their zombies have different forms and strengths.

Is the Zombie Survival Guide worth a read? What are some other good zombie books?

Of those two guys I listed, I'd recommend everything they've written. Also check out Brian Keene as well.

And in June, I will have a novel coming out called Insurgent Z (co-authored with another TD'er). It will be published by Blood Bound Books, a press out of Arizona, and has an intro written by Joe McKinney and a blurb from NY Times Bestseller Jonathan Maberry. I'll also recommend my serial, Hollow Shell, which I'm updating with new parts every couple of months.

And the Survival Guide is worth a read if you're a fan of zombies. It's kind of a bathroom book in that its one best read in short spurts and it really reads like a list of things you'll need to survive an apocalypse.

They grow up so fast.

I'll read it.

It's going to be a hell of a year. I'm up for an award at the World Horror Convention this June in New Orleans. Also just had a book come out this month and will have three more coming out this year. Not too shabby for part-time writing.

Dare anyone suggest that a film might be a better than any book about it, especially to those that read it.

No one is refusing to read it, I am just sick of fans of novels/books that are adapted into film always have to come out of the woodwork an wave their "we read the book" flag in an attempt to make people aware that since they have in fact read the book, they will be the ones to let you know if the film is good or not.

If you see this film and you think it is great, but didn't read the book, you must not know what you are talking about.
