I don't believe so, at least that zombie Rick shoots in season 1 with no legs was still kicking and obviously couldn't really be feeding.

I like what they did with Hershel. It gives us something to consider: can someone be saved from a zombie bite?
I say no, but if the bitten part is removed quick enough, it's not out of the realm of possibility. There are a few issues though. One is normal infection and the fact that, unless they find a prison infirmary, Hershel is pretty fricked. Two, now he is a liability not being able to get around on his own. What do they do with him if they need to leave? And in a hurry?
All good stuff to introduce in the next season.

Yeah I get that. I just don't think Herschel has a chance. I'm more intrigued about what will happen with the prisoners than Herschel

It's funny that they kill off the more interesting characters while the cardboard cutouts continue on.
Michonne seems to be a cool character, and I like the actress; I wish she had gotten a better introduction other than having to put up with Andrea's dumb arse.
And that must have been a really dull axe blade.
