I assume you eventually went back and watched the whole thing though, yes?

For the record, that was Bodie's grandma in the court room. She didnt have the Aunt Jemima hat on so might have thuough some off.
Ep7
The biggest gansta of all makes his first appearance, Clay frickin Davis- sheeiiiitt
- DayDay telling Daniels how he would rob his house, smh
Bunk and Jimmy in the bar drunk, love their interactions. Bunk was a gentle love and his wife is in Gainesville (poor thing)
String and Avon continue to feel the heat and trying to figure out how to solve it. Tearing out the pay phones was a start.
Bubz and his 24 hour badge even had Johnny laughing at him. Bubz looking for attention.
Forgot the kid the with fricked up eye was with Stinkum. Prez and Lester figuring out the code again is tight.
Bird got his arse beat down for being the arse he is. Omar living by the code.
Madamn Larue, haha. Jay is awesome

One Arrest.
It's cool watching the cops slowly begin to figure shite out and piece things together. Of course, one reason for that is the antiquated technology they're using, but still.
It's cool though.
I remembered in these episodes how awesomely the music is used in the show. Wiki calls it "diegetic," where most of the music in the show comes from the actual show itself instead of edited in later (like from car stereos or jamboxes at that house party). It's really cool how they use music.
Landsman is hilarious. For whatever reasons, I remember not liking him much the first go round, but I don't know what I was thinking, because not only is he hilarious, but he ultimately takes up for Jimmy more than most.
Oh shite...that kid that Prez popped in the eye. And Daniels feels terrible about it too, because he knows that he helped cover it up with that bullshite story.
Clay Davis sighting already? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Waylon sighting as well. And Bubs going to get the 24 hour clean keychain.
At least he seemed to take something away from rehab, unlike that bitch arse Johnny. It's so weird to me that the idiot from Kids is in The Wire.
Daniels stunting on DayDay (I'm rich, beyotch!!). But why the hell would you randomly start talking about knocking the house over with someone who just sat down at your table? That makes no sense whatsoever. What an idiot.
I absolutely fricking love it when Jimmy and Bunk are hammered.
ON the flip side from the cops, it's cool when Avon and his crew start figuring shite out too, and start changing shite up. That whole cat and mouse game is one reason S1 is so awesome.
I love how Omar knows everything about everything all the time.
Ole boy O trying to make moves but that shite is gonna get him killed if he isn't careful. You better be careful with that shite, Dee. And bring that shite up to Avon before you get in trouble with it.
I totally forgot about Wallace being on that coke. Man, that's sad to see for that kid.
Ya boy Bird bit off more than he could chew in that interrogation room. Jesus...I love how over the top violent the cops are on this show. That shite would NEVER fly these days with all of that shite that's gone on the last few years.
And shite, Omar knows fricking ALL. Dude is clearing murders left and right. And all leading up to the awesome court scene.
Santangelo finally deciding to not frick Jimmy over for a change.
Lessons.
It's so damn weird how cavalier Jimmy is with his kids. His ex wife would shite bricks if she knew half the shite he pulled with his kids present.
"How can you get the count right, but you can't do these math problems?"
"Get the count wrong, they frick you up."
That shite is sad, and probably pretty true for a lot of kids in areas like this.
Avon showing Orlando what the frick is up. And damn, Dee, you weren't even gonna clear that shite with your uncle? This is just more evidence piling up that Dee isn't cut out for the game, man. For as much smarts as he has, dude is seemingly fricking up left and right.
First of all, civil forfeiture is fricking bullshite. But on top of that, Daniels is starting to see how corrupt the political side of things can be. And good on McNulty for calling him out on his bullshite (and potential shadiness).
Judge Phelan beasting on fools and making McNulty look like an idiot in the process. Hilarious that he wants to frick Pearlman though, and McNulty is all the way up in dat arse.
That study scene with Herc and Carv shows just how different their paths are on the show. shite like this is what I enjoy most about a rewatch.
Hey, Stink. What good does it do to put gloves on after you've already been handling the gun in your hand for ten minutes? Idiot.
"Hey yo lesson here, Bay...you come at the king, you best not miss."
One of tGOAT lines of the series. Omar finally getting some Brandon revenge.
String trying to play both sides of the game.
Dee wants out.
Still so crazy how the shite on the cop side of things works. Clear this case, or give me that name, or charge this whether you have evidence or not, or clear these files so I can get my numbers. Nobody really gives a shite about anything except clearing cases, even if they aren't necessarily being cleared correctly.
Drunk Bunk is amazing. And I love how he hits Jimmy with the truthbomb of how he's no good for anybody who's around him. That'll be a reoccurring theme.

I disagree. I think he actually got something out of rehab for that visit, and he liked the recognition he got when people thought he was clean (even if he wasn't).

The best part about that is that it completely worked. Sanny buried the statue and then put it up to his ear that night, and his phone rang in the middle of the night with the killer.

How about the love to NOLA.... Orlando and his connect, Popeyes when Herc/Carver was studying together. Herc looks like he is XMAS treeing the test and Carver freaking out.
Waylon sounds like a real dude going thru the getting clean process. I think Bubz wants to stop but Johnny keeps dragging him back in it.
Surprised they didnt kill Orlando's dumb arse for that shite he trying to pull. Dee didnt even realize that. He even tells Shardeen he is ready to quit. That stripper party though, only one bothered by dead chick was Dee
That count scene was hilarious but true. Cant be playing with that money. Didnt realize it was a girl until Wallace called her Sarah. Those kids dont have a chance.
Omar has his ear to the ground for sure. Surprised he didnt take out Bey as well. King line is tGOAT but I like the Levy court room line as well.
Higher ups only worried about politics so they can advance. Burrells and IID guy knew not to frick with Clay.
Well Madam Larue kinda worked since it was a different case Jimmy solved for him. Yeah didnt Jay say Jimmy was like a son earlier, lol.
Stringer definitely sees the bigger picture as far as the business side is concerned. First time he and Avon didnt see eye to eye in what to do with Omar

Yeah I remember really liking Waylon the first time I watched it. Definitely could feel his struggle and appreciate his honesty at the same time.
I loved the "I know I have one more high in me, but I don't think I have one more recovery" line. That's some deep shite. And hits home to addicts I'd imagine. Drug addiction is a motherfricker.
quote:

Yup. I imagine the reason they didn't was, like Avon said, Orlando was a "clean name" on his liquor license. So killing him would mean they'd have to replace him on the license and potentially introduce outside bullshite.
I can appreciate that O was trying to make a little money on the side, but you'd think he'd know his bosses well enough to know not to try that shite, especially in the Pit where Avon's business reigns supreme. At the very least you'd think he'd maybe try to sell his shite elsewhere. But I guess he knows how well-run Avon's business is and wanted a piece of that distribution. And the fact that Dee was even considering it speaks volumes.

Holy shite, I missed that. Definitely thought it was a boy.

I guess Omar wanted someone to live to tell the tale, so to speak.
Best part about Omar in these episodes was after he killed Stinkum, he's chilling in the office with McNulty, Kima, and Freamon, and everybody in the room knows he straight up murdered this dude in cold blood, but they don't want to charge him because it would hurt their case to do so since Omar is such a great source of information and giving them a huge assist. McNulty's line about "Are we still fricking police?" or whatever is great because it shows how frustrated he is about everything.
One thing I'd like clarification on...at the end of E7, McNulty goes to Pearlman's house and tells her that Rawls is coming for his badge. But in E8 everything seems to be flowing like normal. Is that because of what Judge Phelan pulled? Or is Jimmy still under the gun and we just haven't seen that play out yet? I was trying to remember last night but couldn't..

Jimmy will always be a target for his bosses and yeah they didn't mention anything in 8. My opinion is that during the pillow talk at the end of 7 Rhonda tells Jimmy she has his back being she is a SA and has pull with Phelan as well lol

Cocomo..
Wallace wasn't doing Coke, it's shitty stepped on H. Not trying to nitpick or anything, just letting you know.
He was just snorting it rather than shooting it and also why he passes out instead of getting all amped up.

First time I watched it I wondered the same thing. I agree with you and think Avon and Stringer were really rational about it and how much it would cost to off Orlando. They would have to find a new clean front that could actually run the business, a quality I imagine wasn't easy to find in their circle of acquaintances, pay the lawyer to fix it up (I imagine Levy ain't cheap), and with all the heat on them already draw more attention when their club owner comes up missing/dead. And Orlando, while obviously an idiot (he knows how tight a ship Avon runs, even if Dee said yes why we he not think Avon would find out?), didn't commit one of the cardinals sins on the streets: stealing, snitching, or strait up disrespect (remember where we are in watching the show).
Bigger issue is Dee even entertaining the idea, he should have shut him down right away.

Either way, it's weird how he went from being a good kid and taking care of other kids (siblings?) to a drug addict in like two episodes. I know that the whole Brandon thing fricked him up, but it would've been nice to see a little more of that since they made the effort to show he was a responsible kid. It's like all of a sudden, Wallace is just hooked on heroin.

Agreed. And even bigger once you realize that immediately after that, Dee talks about wanting out. So if he truly wanted out then he certainly wouldn't have entertained O's idea of the NOLA coke and making that money on the side. At first, you kinda wonder if he was truly entertaining that idea or just being a friend to Orlando and listening to his offer. But then eating lunch with WeeBay and the others, he brings it up like it's something hes considered taking part in. And he's the only one at the table who never even considered talking to Avon about it.

I think you underestimate how much the Brandon thing messed him up. We see it come full circle in the next few episodes.
He couldn't deal with it and had more riding on him than just about anybody. Including Dee.
