Half way through it. Doesn’t disappoint. Lives up to the Narcos bar imo. I just skimmed through the pages here (avoid spoilers), but damn if I’m not surprised that there’s been no mention of Isabella (Teresa Ruiz) through 4 pages. Lol. “Have to take that round arse to meet the Colombians.”

Although they didn't follow the historical timeline at all with respect to Rafa's ending.

I also didn't like the way they portrayed Rafa as some artsy, lovesick man-child.

Irl, he was a stone cold, irredeemable killer. He personally played a huge role in the actual torture of Kiki.

This show whitewashed Rafa big time. He deserved to fry for what he did in real life.

The DFS was basically a client of the CIA, they went into the history of the relationship in one of the first couple of episodes. CIA/State Department didn't care that DFS was corrupt from top to bottom as long as they kept the communist out of Mexico.

So the DFS got the CIA to get the Contras to beat the shite out of him to send him a message about who's really in control.

IRL Kiki’s story was different too. I wonder why they didn’t go with the real life undercover infiltration story.

7 episodes in. It’s very good but I’m doing so much reading I may as well have just read the book adaptation.

Only beef is having to spend so much time looking at the bottom of the screen instead of the actors.

so you wanted a show based in Mexico to have a bunch of English speaking cartel members?

I finished it. Basically seems like the Guadalajara cartel was the Colombians bitch.

it did seem that way

but they took 50% of the profits just to move it

They took 50 percent of the gross.

The Colombians told him he has to take all the costs on his half, the payoffs, the operation costs.

The 50 percent the Colombians got was pure profit after you account for product cost which was essentially zero.

So it was probably closer to a 75/25 split on actual profit numbers

but they already had the mechanism in place to get it across the border since they'd been shipping so much reefer. So those operational costs weren't being inherited.

Win win for both.

There’s a few scenes where they talk about cocaine will be different than the weed. The Colombian cartel told him in the meeting that he will need to pay more for the people he’s currently paying and will have to get a higher level of government involved in order to make it happen.

This was before the meeting with the Govener, and before anyone in his organization even knew this was happening. Not to mention to cost of going to war with the current cocaine suppliers in Mexico (falcon).

There was certainly an additional cost that came to doing coke vs just weed, which was obviously offset by how much damn money coke brought in. But Colombians definitely got the better end of that deal

Narcos is in my mind the most consistently excellent show on Netflix year after year. It never slacks up and the writing is always on point.

Finished the season last night. Overall, very good. Maybe a little weaker on the character development than previous seasons. Do think they set up next season beautifully.
