So his dad is still alive?

Hard to tell. Either he actually is, or he's still a "living memory" of sorts in Elliot's head. This show is so well done that you never can really tell.

Supposedly Elliot's father worked at Evil Corp and died, but at this point who the frick knows.

But would Angela's mom be alive as well?

And how come she hasn't seen robot? She knows what his dad looked like.

Ill still say it's his memory/alter ego but I wasn't shocked to find out that was his dad

On the one hand, Robot's interactions with people without Elliot being present lead you to believe he's real, while his seeming constant presence around Elliot's apartment at the most opportune moments leads you in the other direction.

The writing in this series is so good that I'm sure they'll find a slick way to tidy that up before it's over.

Wow. I just binged the last 2 episodes. Not sure that was the best idea

He saw his dads reflection in the mirror along with his own and the fsociety mask. So I still think its his alter, but now he knows who the alter is. Being reminded he has a sister spurned it imo

Yeah.

I had a feeling this wasn't just any guy he made up.

It makes sense that his dad is his alter who or manifestation. He uses it as another means of justifying his actions against evil corp.

Tyrell was talking to Elliot in the car although he took on his dads presence. The car was at the fair and tyrell told Elliot he knew his secret which was the hack.

Later that evening Elliot and Darlene were at the same place.

The "dark army" is intriguing especially since the old raspy Asian woman is a leader or spokesman.

Tyrell's wife is a trooper although sick and twisted for hurting herself while pregnant. There has to be something greater to her than being a do nothing dependopotamus who can manipulate tyrell.

the writing really is the best ive seen in awhile. theres really no way to conclude one way or the other if his dad is alive or not. im leaning towards not being alive and just being an alter, just cause its easier to justify and make sense of.

the darlene being his sister twist was pretty great. her past actions make so much more sense now. i cant remember the last time a show was such a roller coaster like this. pretty fricking great.

i know he has more than his fair share going on right now, but i am a little surprised by the lack of rage/revenge for shaylas death. on the one hand, it makes sense for his character to not be able to process it and just feel guilty and powerless. but on the other hand, he usually wont just sit back.

i know itll come back around at some point, just surprised how fast it took a backseat to everything else.

eta: to sum it up...

It seems as if it's intentionally being left ambiguous, but more towards him being in Elliot's head. Watch how mindfricked we'll all be when he does end up being real.

Well, I would say that since Elliot was able to have a complete lapse in his memory to where he can't remember his own sister, it's certainly plausible that he messed something else up in his memory about his dad dying. Perhaps his dad faked his death, or more likely, his dad never really died but Elliot just remembers that for some reason. For all we know, it could have been Elliot's mother who died instead. I like the idea of Mr. Robot being real and not being an alter ego. IMO, it would seem too much like Fight Club if it was his alter ego. But I think that's what they wanted us to assume throughout the first season, so that we would actually be somewhat blind-sided by the reveal.

True but wouldn't Darlene have recognized him when they both showed up at Elliot's apartment?

Elliot asked robot how did she find his apartment. Wouldn't she be able to say that was her dad too?

I'll stick with what I believe but the writing and acting is so good that I am having my doubts.

I also feel like Angela and Elliot are closer than just friends. I know I stated earlier I thought Angela and Darlene may have been the same person. The scene at the ballet was interesting
