Just spot read the thread, but the scene with Johnsey and Anse fishing together (part 3) was the best scene in the whole series imo. Pretty intense and Godfather-esque.
Good show.
On and Team Hatfield. The McCoys seemed like a bunch of bitter retards. The McCoy women seemed to have more sense than any of the men.

Floyd Hatfield, cousin of "Devil Anse," who was accused by Randolph McCoy of stealing a hog. Although a jury found in favor of Floyd Hatfield, his acquittal has been viewed by some as one of the precipitating factors of the Hatfield-McCoy Feud.

Ellison Hatfield in Civil War uniform. His brutal murder in 1882 ignited the famous Hatfield-McCoy Feud. The inscription at bottom of photo reads: "Ellison Hatfield Died Aug 1882 Father Age 33 years Gone but not forgotten."

Frank Phillips, who led numerous raids against the Hatfield family, lived with and eventually married Nancy McCoy Hatfield, wife of Johnse Hatfield.

Asa Harmon McCoy, brother of Randolph. Asa Harmon, who enlisted in the Union army, was killed by Confederate supporters in 1865. Although some McCoy supporters held "Devil Anse" responsible, most students of the feud believe that his friend Jim Vance actually pulled the trigger.

Roseanna McCoy, daughter of Randolph and girlfriend of Johnse Hatfield.

We watched this too. My wife's great-great-great-great-grandfather was "Preacher Anse" Hatfield (yes, I have proof lol) who was the judge in the hog trial, not Devil Anse's older brother. Preacher Anse was Devil's cousin.
From History Channel: "For instance, there is a Preacher Anse Hatfield and a Walls "Deacon" Hatfield. Preacher Anse was a justice of the peace who presided over the livestock dispute.
"He was peripherally related to the Hatfields in the feud."
A minor character with one important scene.
Deacon Hatfield was the older brother of Devil Anse Hatfield. He was also a judge and presided over the trial of Paris and Sam McCoy, who were charged with killing Bill Staton, a worker related to both families who'd testified in favor of the Hatfields over the disputed pig.
"We used two different judges to make one character," he said. "It made the part stronger and took nothing away from the story."
And with a story as sprawling as the Hatfield-McCoy feud, Fetty said condensing was necessary to fit the story into a six-hour miniseries."
FYI -
Preacher Anse's daughter Sally had a daughter named Polly, Polly had a daughter named Maxine, Maxine is my wife's grandmother.
