I honestly can't think of a film that has won that was worse that Avatar.
Shakespeare In Love was a pretty bad film, IMO.

I don't know. It just feels like a dog and pony show to me. Also, your earlier point about Oscar screwjobs couldn't have been more correct. It was so typical of them to award Scorsese for The Departed after screwing him for so many years.

The parts with Ralph Fiennes and Kristen Scott Thomas are excellent. The rest of the movie was extremely boring.

I don't know, English Patient and Shakespeare weren't bad, just overrated. Driving Miss Daisy... now that's a terrible movie.
Avatar is at least good from a technical standpoint, even if it is Ferngully 2.

You can blame Harvey Weinstein. Nobody would have had a problem with those movies if it was just nominated for Best Picture. It only becomes a problem when they start winning.

this guy wrote an award winning screenplay? What a wordsmith...
and the closed captioning thing was only for the clips of the screenwriting nominees.

sheesh, it wasn't an accident, and it wasn't even closed captioning. They did it to show off the WRITING....you know, for the best SCREENPLAY nominees.
