The knife probably had some penetration and was obviously shocking for him, but it likely did minimal damage to his internal organs.

He got a new suit in TDK, which was made of separate plates, leaving Batman more susceptible to knives and gunfire.

And in a more serious critique....how did Bane know of not only the existence, but the location of Applied Sciences.

They made a point of repeatingly saying how off the books it was

The new head of Wayne enterprises is also the head of the League of Shadows.

All things considered, I enjoyed the movie. I was not disappointed. But I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two in the series. Honestly, it seemed like TDKR was more cookie-cutter than the others. It was well acted, though. Well scripted. Had some nice surprises (Marion Cotillard, etc.), some good low-key humor, and spectacular action scenes. The last 30 minutes or so, most of which were in Imax, were really fantastic visually. Satisfying end (even if a little predictable). Very pleased overall. I'll definitely have to watch it again to fully appreciate it; I was fighting off a headache during the second half of it, which probably made the movie seem worse than it actually was.

Final grade for TDKR: 7/10.

My favorites in the series, in order, are: BB, TDK, TDKR.

ETA: I was disappointed not to see a new trailer for The Master before TDKR. I thought they were supposed to show it, and I was looking forward to seeing it on the big Imax screen.

I read a few pages of this thread but not the entire thing. Am I the only one who did not like this movie? I loved the first time, but I hated this movie the moment they took away Bruce's fortune and then continued to hate it when he never got it back. 5 generations before him built up that fortune and lived in Wayne Manor and he lost it all and gave up the house. I like Batman and Tony Stark precisely because they are billionaires. I just could not enjoy the rest of the movie after that happened.

This. That's why they didn't want Daggert to take over as CEO because he was the one who was paying Bane to put him at the head of Wayne Enterprises.

It just so happens that the person that Bruce and Lucius put in charge of Wayne Enterprises in his place is the head of the League of Shadows. Also, Bane and Talia both knew that Bruce was Batman all along so it was a pretty obvious deduction by them that his toys came from somewhere within Wayne Enterprises.

Hows that a valid argument for not liking the movie?

You're going to be like most people, you are either going to love it or hate. There doesnt seem to be a middle ground. While it has its flaws it's for sure one of the best Batman films out there. Some people just say they hate because of they hype and hate that others love it so much. Very few generally just did not like the film. I loved it and is the 2nd best Batman film to me and one of the greatest superhero movies ever.

I certainly do not mind the hype. Hate may be a strong word for how I feel about this film, but it will be a long time before I ever watch it again, if ever. They tore down the character and never really built him back up in my opinion. I will never enjoy a film where the rich guy loses his fortune outside of Trading Places. I am not even close to wealthy, but I have every intention of being wealthy one day. So I hate watching someone like Bruce lose his wealth.

that's the whole point though. The idea of Batman rose from the ashes of Wayne's enterprise. It's the only thing that survived from all of the destruction and it enabled him to escape and start his life over.

Did everyone just totally ignore Lucius' line about the money?

He said something to the effect of,"fraud will eventually be proven, but you are broke for the time being."

Because those futures trading transactions were fraudulent...

I kept waiting for him to get his money back, but it never happened. In the will reading, they had to sell his assets to pay off his debts. Then he gave up Wayne Manor. I kept waiting for the fusion reactor to be turned on and for Wayne Enterprises to recoup their investment and then some. Obviously, that didn't happen.

Well, I don't know how long after that was or what could be considered "realistic" in a case like that, but it is at least a little open ended, I think.

I think Lucius said something about suing to recoup the money. It'd be hard for a supposedly-dead guy to sue. JMO. Either way, I'm not really bothered whether or not he lost his fortune. He lived. And he seemed to find happiness and a better life with Selina.

Yeah, I don't think it is very relevant either. he still will have money.

What do yall think the midnight grosses are going to be? Can it give Avengers a run for the 207 million opening?

I say yes to the first and comes up a bit short possibly of the second.

Loved the movie. Especially the first fight scene with bane and batman. The level of frustration by batman, the growling almost, he knew he just couldn't defeat bane, and the audience could just FEEL it... you just knew the back break was coming. Loved that scene. It may have been the longest actual "hand to hand" combat scene throughout the trilogy??

Also loved the immortality spin on Ra's al Ghul. That was nice to see in Nolan's own way since Ra's always had the LAZaRUS PITS

I wish Nolan would have ended it more like INCEPTION. The whole totem scene spinning at the end, I would have liked Alfred looking up at the camera and just smiling... and a fade to black right there. Even more controversy would have risen.

Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle was great. Absolutely incredible. Would have gladly watched 30 more minutes of her in the movie interacting with batman or even stand alone scenes.

Was I just grasping at straws or was there a CROC reference in the sewers somewhere in there? It was real subtle and maybe just a one liner in there..

And the guy sniping early in the movie, almost thought that might have been DEADSHOT. Find more about his character on wiki. Of course it never developed but it was just me kind of hoping a secret side villain would accompany Bane OTHER THAN talia al ghul since even 6 months ago there was speculation that role was being played by Marion Cotillard. Even the video games "Hugo Strange" would have been great, and if another Batman ever does arise, would make a solid choice as lead antagonist
