fwiw, i know i'm probably going to post this smack dab in the middle of a huge dick measuring contest

i think TDKR was better than TDK, mainly b/c TDKR did not fall apart in the final act like TDK did

Bane's death was never an issue with me, due to the fact Batman does not kill, on purpose. They had two great hand to hand combat scenes, each getting the opportunity to best each other. I also loved the scene when Bane told Batman he'll just have to imagine the fires. This also gave Catwoman her Han Solo moment.

Those are all legit issues and honestly I think that this was way too ambitious of a movie. They had to pack a ton of stuff into almost 3 hours and it shows with things like we've been talking about. I have a feeling it will grow on me but 66% of the movie is very clunky. With all they were trying to do the movie probably should have been 45 minutes to an hour longer and split into part 1 and part 2

you see i didn't find that much of this a problem with TDKR but TDK truly suffered from this

the dent storyline needed more time in TDK and the last section of TDK was jumbled and kind of silly. the boat part makes me cringe anytime i see it. dent needed to be developed more as gotham's hero

It would've been better if Eckhart had been given a cameo in Batman Begins I think.

I wish two-face had more screentime in TDK though.

Yeah, agree with all of that. I also think that the Foley character should've been in all 3. He symbolized the growth of the Gotham police. His death would've been pretty powerful if he'd been in all 3.

Like someone said earlier, this finale would've been epic if they had split it into two parts. Just imagine if the movie ended when Bane broke Batman and all of Gotham was under siege while he was incapacitated in his cell somewhere in another country.

That was a powerful and emotional movie. Listening to Alfred at the end you could feel his pain. I enjoyed the hell out of it. With that said Bane's character was OK he was really good at the beginning but his voice would come off as a bad SNL Sean Connery style and even cartoony at many parts when his voice would get loud. it was also hard to understand what he was saying about 15 percent of the movie. He was a good bad guy but he is forgettable. I was so disappointed how he became that women's bitch at the end that just weakened his character even more. I honestly thought Anne Hathaway did a great job as cat women. Even though her scene how she killed Bain was terrible.

Another gripe I have is how they seemed to push the kissing scene between them two that just felt out of place and so obvious. Like someone said earlier it doesn't make sense how he became this depressing POS for 8 years that was ridiculous. It really felt like Batman Begins Part 2 but bigger and more action, which isn't a bad thing just didn't feel original like the 2nd and 1st one. All in all it was a great movie.

eta: I don't believe this one lived up to the hype this time around IMO like TDK did. In no way am I demeaning the movie because I really enjoyed it.

They had a lot of Prison Break cast members in the film. Bellick was a prison guard , the Asian bad guy from season 2, and Lachero from season 3. I thought that little boy with the chalk drawings would become the Robin to JGL's Batman in the early part of the film. Was I alone in this?

I said the same thing to myself
and all the Inception cast too

The kissing between Batman/Catwoman was an ode to the comics I think.

Ever play arkham city? one of her moves was kissing a thug while taking him down (although that was pretty cheap to kiss ordinary thugs).

going to see it again today at 6; dragging the gf along this time

I do think it was tough for him to make this one just because of the hype, and a lot of the reviews seem to reflect that. The Joker is the greatest villain in his rogue's gallery so the mere fact that he couldn't be included in this one bums people out.

I agree but I was trying to not compare Bane and The Joker together. I just didn't think Bane was all that. Very forgettable

I gotcha. Personally, I liked him but would really have loved to see the venom version from the comics.

I'm excited for the next series; killer croc, a proper mr. freeze, venom bane will be awesome if we get more supernatural elements. They'll have to do some more fantastical elements like this to make him fit in with the Justice League characters better.

Anyone want to discuss the parallels between TDKR and Rocky III?
