This was just a weird final, 100 hours but none of it really mattered or significantly influenced the next stage. The worst thing that happened to the final was Olivia getting hurt, Aneesa and Nany are just not built for a final which made it very anticlimactic.
I think they tried to design it where people like Aneesa, who typically have no real chance of winning a final, could actually pull it off.

One thing is Tory and Devin definitely fit the ride or dies mantra. They worked so well together and really played to each other strengths and just got shite done.

Yeah, Devin is intelligent and understand the puzzles and strategy games better than anyone in quite some time. He might be the best puzzle player since Sarah. Tori realizes she isn’t as smart as Devon and is willing to trust him and follow his strategy without questioning him at every step.
It helps that within the game, especially with his partner, Devon isn’t as arrogant as Wes or how Jordan used to be in the past. He can be just as bad with rivals or random people but that doesn’t matter in a final.
He has also clearly decided to cut down on drinking and smoking cigarettes and doesn’t wonder why he’s in worse shape than others (Nany) and actually seems to work out from time to time (Aneesa).
It’s kind of crazy but Jordan and Aneesa had a shot to win the final if they had taken out Bananas and Nany in the final elimination.
I think Devin and Tori would have still done really well with building the cinder block puzzle though.

It’s so strange because none of the regular posters have tension so it has to be a lurker

Jordan carrying Aneesa’s lazy arse to a chip would’ve been one of the GOAT accomplishments in the show’s history.

Absolutely, even though that final was easy and getting smoked on anything cardio didn't matter much.

It’s probably Turbo or Nany

Man, I skipped the whole season after the first 4 or 5 eps, and then watched the last 4.
This final was really long, but I still don't think it was the hardest one they've ever done. War of the worlds and the heyday of Rivals and Exes where they sleep deprived them for 2 days on a mountain and made them stand in rocks for 10 hrs seems much harder.
They also had no real swimming/canoeing which alway separates the wheat from the chaff and exhausts people, and they went much heavier on puzzles than usual, which absolutely ayed into to Tori and Devin's hands.
I also am not a fan of using eliminations in the final. The final is supposed to be eseentially an iron man competition mixed with BUDs. The final and the game are supposed to be two different animals and two different skillets, and that's why they are so hard to win.
At least the chemistry was decent and John was in the final... But Holt shite, him dragging Nany to 2nd place may be his greatest feat ever.
Also, I don't understand at all how Aneesa even acted like the was going to win or Jordan thought she was going to win. We all knew her team would be dead last at everything.
I actually would have seen some more of this season though. That Moriah girl is....

I'm ok with the final having an elim to narrow down the teams. Can be pretty good drama/back stabbing or political play
but agree the final shouldn't be decided by a routine elimination.

Hardest final was the first War of the Worlds and then Rivals I. Wes was in both of those, which is a little crazy.

Nah, that would be Landon winning with Carly against Kenny + Laurel.

This plus the Final not truly being grueling any longer like in the past, now Devin's physical limitations compared to the other dudes don't even matter.
If Aneesa had never hurt her ankle, she legit could have won a final. That alone tells you that the Final is too easy from what it used to be. Aneesa should never come close to winning a final and actually could have won if not for an injury.

And also, Jordan was eliminated and Aneesa wasn't and he got to come back because of that, I think that matters too.

That’s fair. I’m not saying she did absolutely nothing all season. Moreso talking about a final and how she would never be able to win one on her own. Not even when she was “in shape.”

I also read that editing completely screwed up the final. Apparently there were two checkpoints they didn’t even show because they just hours worth of standing and holding shite. Also there was way more running then what was portrayed. Kind of explains the whole waking up and next thing it’s night time and your at a checkpoint

Bananas said on at least 1 day there were 2 more pretty grueling challenges they had to do that they didn't show. So while we think during some of those time gaps they were doing nothing, it doesn't seem like they were always doing nothing.

I also am not a fan of using eliminations in the final. The final is supposed to be eseentially an iron man competition mixed with BUDs. The final and the game are supposed to be two different animals and two different skillets, and that's why they are so hard to win.
Meaning, Devin/Tori are 1st at this checkpoint, so they don't have to do an elimination. But when John/Nany win then they're exactly even going into the next phase with Devin/Tori and they lose the time advantage. SO they replace the time advantage with an elimination, which actually hurts the leading team more than the team that wins the elimination.
If Devin/Tori are ahead by 22 minutes after a checkpoint, whether there's an elimination or not, they should start the next phase of the Final 22 minutes before the next team. I really hate how that advantage is completely lost or like we saw in the 1 checkpoint, they randomly give a 5 and 10 minute advantage which isn't much in totality. Give em the exact amount of time they were leading by, that seems obvious.
Losing that advantage coupled with an easier Final is why someone like Aneesa was 1 small injury away from a legit chance at winning a Final. When that happens, you know something is wrong with your Final.

That's poor editing then, in my opinion.
I also still think Olivia getting hurt so early left producers in a bit of a scramble.
