Ooh! Ooh! I know this one!

There should be no reference to the reproductive system in any animated film that is rated G or PG. This was initiated after they showed a visit to the OBGYN in Up.

Wait... what's wrong w/a robot buying a teenager a tampon? You do realize that Hiro is a teenager in high school don't you? If you watch the previews it looks like Baymax, who is trying to help people w/healthcare needs, is buying the tampons for a girl at Hiro's high school.

And I repeat, with more zeal and fervor: Why the frick is this in a movie for little kids??? WHY is this relevant to the story??

"It's to show that the robot doesn't understand the miracle of aging and puberty" you might say.

FIne, have the robot go shopping for acne cream. Or helping them pick out new clothes, or get a new haircut.

This is another not so subtle attempt at "the message" plain and simple.

It's not a movie for little kids.

It's a TV series that's rated TV-PG.

Here's what TV-PG is described as on Wiki.

quote:

Programs rated TV-PG may contain some material that parents or guardians may find inappropriate for younger children. Programs assigned a TV-PG rating may include infrequent coarse language, some sexual content, some suggestive dialogue, or moderate violence.

LINK

Women can start getting their periods as young as 10. There is nothing wrong w/a TV-PG show acknowledging that periods exist or that it can be an embarrassing and awkward situation for a young girl to experience for the first time.

I've now looked on D+ to find the episode. It's an episode about Baymax helping a girl deal w/her first period. The message being conveyed is that she doesn't need to feel ashamed at her changing body as she goes through puberty. Get a grip.

It’s the first Baymax series listed TV-PG. The other two from 2018 were TV-Y7… So Disney had this character that they were targeting for that really young crowd for years. They knew the audience. And now the change into a more young teen/adult humor.

Interesting.

“Baymax Dreams” and “Big Hero 6: The Series” were both TV-Y7.

You mean to tell me they are taking an IP and aging up the content as the people who grew up with it age as well????

OH NOES!!!!

Meanwhile many of the same people freaking out in this thread want R rated Batman, Superman, and MCU movies where people get splattered into piles of goo and for the female characters have on outfits that look right out of the first 5 minutes of a NOT ____ XXX porn.

If you refuse to understand the nuance between content in a cartoon who’s main demographic is 8 year old boys vs the content of a live action batman film who’s target is 18-50, I can’t help you.

You just wake up from a coma?

Look at this in context of what we've seen from the entertainment industry for the last several years and only a moron sees this as some sort of philanthropic move.

I suppose you’re also cool with the baby muppet gonzo becoming trans. Baby muppets have been out so long… they’re just aging up right?

Again it's rated TV-PG. This show is not primarily for 8 year old boys.

A health care robot helping a girl w/her first period is not some horrible thing. It's insane that you have a problem w/it.

Not having a problem w/a robot helping a girl who is having her first period is now virtue signaling?

Y'all really do like to overuse words and phrases to the point they mean absolutely nothing don't you?

I do not give a shite about Muppet Baby Gonzo (a character who is an alien BTW) wearing a dress.

Just like how I never gave a shite that Bugs Bunny and a myriad of other cartoon characters have worn a dress.

That’s a new rating based on its predecessors. And the biggest fans of Big Hero 6 and Baymax are little boys. You seriously trying to dispute that?

Also, my main problem is that this scene is teen/adult humor with a trans thrown in… all for one purpose. Just to normalize it.

Of course you don’t care. Didn’t think you would. You’re comparing a joke and something meant to make you laugh and be ridiculous with something that’s being shown as a normal lifestyle for kids. The kids watching bugs wear a dress to trick Elmer never thought that was a normal thing to do.

Yes, b/c they are aging the IP up as it's audience ages up.

Who gives a shite? A ton of girls love Baymax too.

No little kid is going to have any idea that's a trans person unless their parents tell them it's a trans person.

So then what’s the point if they don’t understand the humor?

Also, it’s not about what few girls watch. It’s about what the majority of the viewers see. The majority is little boys. Again, that’s not up for debate. What do they get out of seeing Baymax shop for tampons with a girl pretending to be a guy thrown in?

You realize little boys used to wear dresses until they were 8 or so? The only reason it changed was b/c the fashion industry wanted to sell more clothes.

Here's FDR at age 2

And 40 year old men could marry 14 year olds. Let’s bring that back too while we’re at it.

b/c it's not just little kids who watch things like Bayymax? How can you be so obtuse? Ghostbusters is rated PG. How old were you when you realized the movie is absolutely loaded w/sex jokes?

Again, they aren't going to have any idea that person is trans.

It also DOES NOT MATTER that the majority of Baymax fans are boys. There is NOTHING wrong w/Baymax helping a little girl w/her first period. Nothing.
