Never seen any Star Wars movie. What order should I watch them in before I go see TLJ?

Some say in sequential order, some say from oldest to newest. I just need a solid background before I watch TLJ. Thanks all

A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens

And don’t see the Last Jedi.

That’s not all of the movies. Way to sell me on Star Wars, maybe I should just skip them all no?

I'd watch in order of release.

IV
V
VI
I
II
III
VII

Sell your ticket to VIII and just rewatch IV, V, and VII

Actually that’s it. Pinky swear. Don’t believe those disgusting fabrications that there are more.

Watch the original trilogy first and if you must you can watch the prequels but be warned about the prequels they are utter trash besides revenge of the sith

Just watch in order chronologically.

Phantom menace, attack of clone, revenge of sith, Rouge one, a new hope, empire strikes back, return of Jedi, force awakens, the last Jedi.

Ignore these idiots.

4, 5, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8.

And I am serious, it preserves the biggest twist of the series, and ignores the one that really doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Posted my full opinion of the movie on page 57.

Episode 8 was pretty well made but still fell short of the mark of what a pure blood Star Wars movie should be.

4, 5, and 6 and then pretend none of the others exist.

4-5-2-3-6 as a single series

7-8 as a sequel series substantially worse than the 4-5-2-3-6 series.

Rogue One and Ep 1 can be watched later as extra background story.
