Neve Campbell in talks to return as Sidney Prescott in Scream 5

It’s hard to imagine a Scream movie without the franchise’s leading lady, but will Neve Campbell be playing Sidney Prescott one more time in the upcoming movie that’s set to be directed by Ready or Not duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett? That’s the big question, and Campbell herself chimes in on that this week.
Chatting with YouTube’s Jake Hamilton, Campbell reveals that she’s been in touch with the duo, and conversations about the potential return of Sidney are taking place.
“They’ve come to me and we’re having conversations. It’s a little hard at the moment because of COVID to know when that’ll happen and hopefully we can see eye to eye on all the elements that have to come into place for it to happen,” Campbell told Hamilton.
She continued, “I originally had been really apprehensive about doing another Scream without Wes because he was such a genius and he is the reason they are what they are but the directors have come to me with such a great appreciation for Wes’s work and they really want to honor it and that meant a lot to me.”
“Hopefully we’ll be able to do it,” Campbell added.
It would seem that at this moment in time there’s definitely a role for Sidney in the movie that Olpin and Gillett are currently envisioning, but there’s always the possibility that things won’t work out and they’ll have to go in a different direction. For now, it’s great to hear that Campbell has been contacted and discussions are taking place.

Yeah she’s hesitant like a starving dog with a hamburger on its nose.

Where do these actors learn to talk like that?
In some Panamanian wanna hump-hump bar?
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
If they paid her $1 million she'd take a dump on the franchise herself.

Is there any particular reason why you felt the need to quote As Good as It Gets? No matter. I'm a little apprehensive myself for this movie because Wes Craven is no longer around to direct. And if Kevin Williamson isn't writing the screenplay I might not even show up at the theater.

Because it's a fun quote...and Neve Campbell's inane ramblings about being apprehensive and unsure and wanting to honor (a fricking horror franchise) reminded me of that Panamanian lady saying it's all for the best.
Meaning it's just gibberish what she is saying; lying Hollywoodese gibberish to act like she's still important...as if she really has to think hard about this...apart from all her other Oscar winning roles she just won.

Was there a Scream 3 and a Scream 4?

No, it just went straight to 5.

I'm assuming so as they're on the fifth film now. Though if you are being sarcastic and pretending the third and fourth films do not exist, I will humbly submit that you are mistaken. While it's true Scream 3 is nowhere near what its predecessors were, Scream 4 was one of the best slasher flicks of the first two decades of the 21st century. Definitely not as good as the first two, but also worthy of their legacy.
I have been impressed with the consistent quality of the Scream franchise thus far. Yeah, Scream 3 was a disappointment, but it's still better than most of your average slasher movie sequels. By far. Scream and Scream 2 are two of the best slasher films ever made and Scream 4 is a solid slasher film in its own right.

Obviously she would be the killer... No need to make or see it.

Her being the killer is blah. Her dying is the only proper way to end it. I wonder what the meta part of it will be.
2 was obviously a rip on sequels.
3 was a rip on franchises
4 was on reboots, silly gimmick ideas and social media celebrity?
Maybe in 5 she is killed by White Privilege and Wuhan Flu.

I didnt think the 4th was bad in comparison to the 2nd and 3rd but 90 lb Emma Roberts being the killer was pretty silly even with suspension of disbelief.

What is she going to play, the mother of the main character?

I literally haven't seen Neve Campbell on a screen or magazine cover in over 20 years.

The last thing I saw Neve Campbell in was When Will I Be Loved, one of the shittiest indy movies by the shittiest indy director in New York. I figured that was her farewell to showbiz.
She's looking a bit gaunt these days.

Neve Campbell randomly showed up in a supporting role on House of Cards. She wasn't bad or anything, but it was certainly a random sighting.

She was in Skyscraper in 2018.

She’s gonna be Scream’s Jaime Lee Curtis.

I imagine she has been furloughed from her current job and needs the work.
