Watching a new series on Netflix called Alias Grace based on the story of Irish immigrant maid Grace Marks who was sentenced to life for killing her employer and family. The show is a series of flashbacks as a psychiatrist treats Grace 10 yrs after the trial.
Didn't think I'd like this but I can't stop watching it. It's very good and the lead actress is wonderful. If you're looking for a new series, it's definitely worth a watch.

No, but there does seem to be supernatural elements.

Grace's best friend dies and she hears her voice say "let me in" and then it's like she's possessed when she wakes up, but I'm thinking Grace is batshit crazy. I haven't finished yet, but this series is bizarre.

Wife and I started it Sunday night. Through 4 episodes and I agree, it is really good. The lead actress played the school teacher Sadie in 11/22/63. She’s doing a terrific job.

I was disappointed in the ending.

I was disappointed in the ending.
Loved the show, really liked the tone of the show and the main girl is really really good in it
But...
SPOILERS
So that doctor works with her for 6 episodes of time and then at the end he just gets fricked over and dies alone and crazy? WTF? I just got the vibe she was just abusing the doctor the whole time. Lying, manipulating. A dude genuinely wanting to help her (and was probably in love with her). Then smooth talking Chuck with a beard comes in and fricks him over completely with some hack silliness. bullshite.
And she marries the little retarded redheaded helper boy? Give me a break. Was not pleased.

Just finished it last night and while I thought the show was really well done and I loved the main actress, WTF was that ending?
Is that how the book ends too?
I did Google some articles about the show to see if they could explain the ending

They say the show makes a strong case for Grace being possessed by her friend Mary citing that Grace kept using her name and basically ended up with the life Mary wanted.
I lean toward more that Grace was raped and abused throughout her life and basically went batshit crazy when Mary died thus creating a split personality. I don't think Grace knows she's crazy.
I'm also confused by the Zach Levi's character. I get that he was basically a con artist, but were he and Grace in it together at the seance?

This was my thought on the first watch through the ending. I watched the ending again, and I think they also hint at Jeremiah and Grace being in on the hypnotism session. I think it is also possible that it could have been staged so that the doctor couldn't write up anything negative. Had she come clean in a normal state, his report would've been negative. He wasn't going to leave until he had something of substance, either. As it is, nobody would believe him and it would likely only hurt his career and likely cause her to go back to the asylum if he published what he saw.
I think it's a brilliant ending. Thinking it's more likely that she's just crazy. That makes me think back about when she would've gone crazy (Mary dying, ofc) and the rest of the show and how that'd affect the story. There were several minor events where people overreacted to her and things she did; think of when she and Jamie went out together flowers for her birthday. Maybe they did fool around, or she at least teased him, but she doesn't remember that. Just an example.
Then I wondered how that affects the ending. Did she really go meet up with Jamie and get married? Did she stay in jail or get sent back to the asylum and her brain just fry altogether after the doctor left, so she doesn't remember that? Maybe that whole post-hypnotism ending was a figment of her imagination also.
