Netflix: The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter

Any of you seen this on the flix yet? Add another one to the year of Brolin.
I think this is a good example of when not to trust the Rotten Tomato meter. I try not to let that ever steer my decision of watching a movie, but I am guilty of it every now and then. This was one rated in the 30's I believe, but I would not give it that rating. It's a solid flick that gets away from the repetitive gimmicks big blockbusters use. No special effects. No unrealistic maneuvers...except...SPOILER...maybe the rafting scene towards the end. But it wasn't enough to matter.
Movie is about a whitetail deer hunter who has his own tv show and wants to bond with his 12 year old son by bringing him along to find and kill his first whitetail. The kid actor was hilarious. He's a spoiled kid who wants no business in the wilderness. Only cares about his gf and his phone. He plays the spoiled kid role so well, but not to the point you want to slap him upside the head when he's acting up. He's actually pretty damn funny. Danny McBride (Kenny Powers) plays Brolin's cameraman and adds just the right amount of comedy for his character. Overall, the entire movie's delivery is serious, but has enough comedic undertones to make some laugh at loud moments.
It's a fly under the radar movie and it only lasts about an hour and 22 minutes. Perfect watch when you find yourself scrolling for 20 minutes trying to pick something.
Highly recommend for the posters who are into experimenting with under the radar movies.
I'd rank it a 6.5-7/10

This holds true for any Netflix movie

Wasn’t the kid the son from Talladega Nights?
I enjoyed it.

Wasn't Talladega Nights like 12 years ago. Without checking, I'm a 100% sure it wasn't the same kid.

No it wasn’t the same kid. This was the first time I love seen the kid in any role. Hope it serves as a good kick start for some comedy roles. He did a solid job.

I'm no longer a big deer hunter, but I felt it was an insult to hunting in general. No gun safety, no respect for the hunting process. It could have been better.
Didn't like it.

I'm a huge hunter and I thought it was funny af. Especially the way it made fun of all the cringy hunting shows out there. I also lovedthe ending where it looks like he might have remorse but then he takes one last look at that giant buck and is like nah his arse is mine

But nobody wants to watch that. Practicality isn't entertaining...see every movie involving guns ever made.

Yeah, this has made it fairly obvious RT critics are in the studios pockets.
They dump on everything outside the system.

The summer of Brolin is perhaps the most lucrative, yet most under the radar period an actor will ever have.
I get that half of it is because of the size and scape and the animation of Avengers, but Brolin has besically become the new Kurt Russell, only a little edgier and a darker when need be and a better dramatic actor.
He can do action, Oscar type dramas, thrillers, semi-comedies. He can be just as comfortable and fit just as well in a western or as a power hungry banker type in Wall Street or a villain.
In this modern day of movies, he's about as solid as it gets, especially when It comes to picking the right projects... If he's in it, I'm probably watching it and will like it a lot.

Could have been better, although I still somewhat enjoyed it. "Legend" really covers all the whopper moments in the movie. Acting is top notch though.

I enjoyed it. It is pretty funny.
I'm also partial to movies filmed in the western NC mountains.

I enjoyed Bright
And all the new Sandler movies, while not great, were fun and RT blasted them.
I still use RT for theater but don't even look at it for Netflix
