I used game sales as a gotcha because they are.
And I didn’t use google AI.
Pt 1 outsold Pt 2 and the drop off from the S1 to the S2 finales showed fans simply didn’t care for the latter of each, game or tv show.
Fans rejected the vision of the artiste behind both because it was the same guy. Doing the same thing.

that's just factually incorrect. Part 2 the game sold a shitton of copies.
TLOU remastered sold more copies than almost any ps4 game, but part 2 still sold more than Ghosts of Tsushima. The Witcher 3 sold 10.8 million, TLOU 2 sold 10.3 million.
I think you have convinced yourself it was a failure when it definitely was not that.

Ghost Of Tsushima surpasses 13 million units sold, potentially generating an estimated $780 million in revenue at an average price of $60, with potential for more due to the $70 PS5 Director's Cut.
Development Costs
The game had a surprisingly low budget of $60 million for a AAA title, especially given its six-year development period, which is notably lower other games in its lane which could cost $80 million in Eastern Europe, to over $200 million in California.
Due to its low budget and strong sales, Ghost of Tsushima likely has one of the best ROIs among Sony's first-party games.
But I think you're the one seeing only what you want. Of course TLOU was a popular game. It makes sense to try adapt that which already has a fanbase to then also draw in new viewers.
The POINT here is that Part 2 did considerably WORSE than Part 1. Game and TV series.
And it did so predictably for the same reason.

i'm going off wikipedia PS4 best selling games. they have ghosts at 9.73 million
I think the 13 million was probably from the PS5 version of ghosts, my list didn't add TLOU2 ps5 sales either
i wasn't trying to downplay ghosts, i actually think its a better game than TLOU2, just show the success of part 2 TLOU

I think season 2 was much worse than the 2nd game. Comparing them is a disservice to the game.

Didn't part 2 get a boost in sales recently due to the show?

The show couldn't follow the games and he was involved in the tragedy of it. I love the games and the show spends most of it's time on story lines that are a blip in the games.

The show was dead when it followed the 2nd game's story arc.
