I don't care for him, I find him very mannered -- the male Meryl Streep

Do I actually have to name people?

His turn on Maude was mind shattering.

Love me some DDL. But up against guys like Duvall, it's like naming a better qb than Eli Manning.

Exactly. DDL is awesome and I've loved him in every role he's played and like Eli he's got the hardware to prove how great he is, but I just think some actors' best performances are better than DDL's.

Leo, easily. DDL is in a movie what? every 3-4 years? Granted he is stellar in those roles, but shite, Leo is in 2-3 movies a year and at worst has the best scenes in those movies even if he isn't the lead.

I really can't think of any performances by actors/actresses that are better than the ones DDL gave in My Left Foot and There Will Be Blood.

Yeah, Jimmy Stewart is GOAT. I'll assume he means current actors still in their prime. I'm not sure if there is any better but IMO, J. Phoenix should have won Best Actor in 2013 for his performance in The Mastor over Day Lewis for Lincoln. I think that performance (Phoenix's) is one of the best I have seen. Rivaling that of Day Lewis in TWBB (PTA really gets the best out of actors) Matthew McConaughey, Jake Gyllenhaal, Leo, are others that are building resumes worthy of being considered the best. Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon have been coming on strong the last couple of years too.
