re: Glazer: Eagles signing TEBOW tomorrow

Am I the only one who doesn't see the big deal about this in any way? There's a long time between now and the season. Tebow may not even be on the roster at the start of the season, much less play a game.

Why would I rewatch a mediocre movie just to prove you wrong when I already know you are wrong?

There are no more armies and Cooper's generation was noted as being war torn. Society did collapse as we know it. Certain governments still existed, but society and government are not one in the same.
Um okay? I mentioned nothing about government in what you quoted so I don't know why you brought them into this. You and your argument have already collapsed, so let's see where we go from here...

Umm, Blight and intense food scarcity. That's all we need to know.
So all of the cattle and fish died? No other crops can be grown? Hell even ramen noodles went out of business? Come on, that's horseshite and you know it.

The film had a ridiculous number of visual payoff
You must have watched a different movie then I did.

If you paid attention, you would have realized that Jon Lithgow's character was a member of Generation Y. Interstellar took place after basic societal collapse and they were in mere survival mode. Apple and Samsung in all likelihood had collapsed, and if you'll notice in the film, there is only one type of car. They were the caretaking generation, and they only made what was necessary. In an age of post-internet as we know it, iPhones aren't going to survive. Just give them a computer that can give them the weather, email, and crop yield estimation, and that's all they need.
You're all over the place here. They never said that Lithgow was a Gen Y guy nor did he given any indication that he was a part of that generation.
You say that society collapsed? And yet we are able to communicate across the globe. We still have power. We still have schools. You say Apple and Samsung are no more and thus phones are gone then turn around and say that computers still exist? Who is making them? Who is providing access to the internet?
Not to mention no real or logical explanation is given as to why our planet was in that situation to begin with. This was just not a good movie. It's like they took half a of a great sci-fi script, and shite a bunch of Hollywood cliches on it and expected people to believe it was great because it starred one of the top stars in Hollywood right now (Matt) and was lead by one of the biggest names (Nolan). This was a textbook mediocre movie.
quote:
I actually agree with this one, but that's just not Nolan's style. He cares more about story than visuals.
Then he shouldn't have shat all over the original script with cliches and pointless scenes.
Seriously, outside of Matt M and Michael Caine, I couldn't have cared less about any character in this movie. I only cared about Michael Caine's character because Michael Caine is one of my favorite actors in the business.
There were 2, maybe 3 good scenes in this whole movie and the rest was meh at best. Nothing groundbreaking. The only great visual was the docking scene, outside of that, nothing that hadn't been done before.

Meh I'll still see it, but The Thing looks like a big rocky turd, literally.
We're are assuming that 1. The only way they "fight" is in the physical manner and that 2. that any direct physical encounter is going to have any real length to it.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this movie will be roughly 150 minutes long. The encounter we saw in that trailer will mostly likely be before the 90 minute mark, definitely before the 100 minute mark.

This is the day to have spoilers thrown in your face. Just had the post-credits image from Avengers Ultron plastered on my Facebook timeline with no warning. Hopefully that's fake.
If it is the one featuring a certain young hero, then it is indeed a fake.

I'm not saying that I went to GameStop Friday and pre-ordered the game after I got off work....
But that's exactly what I did.

Many, many Superman fans, REAL Superman fans not the Snyder/Goyer fans in this thread, who absolutely adore the Donner Superman. I'm talking guys who buy the books, and have been for YEARS. These aren't dopey "soap opera" fans.
I equate people who enjoy the Donner films over Man of Steel with the same people who enjoyed the 4 Batman movies from 89 until 97 over the 05-12 trilogy.
Their opinions are as meaningless to me as a gnat's opinion on pretty much anything.

I think these types of movies have evolved enough that an excuse like that should no longer hold water when it comes to sloppy writing
Well if we are going down that path...
How did no one recognize Trevor as The Mandarin? He was an actor, granted a low level druggy of one, but still.
How in The Winter Soldier did TWS know that Fury was going to turn down that specific road in DC before he blew up his suv with his magnetic disk bomb?
How the hell does Peter's 80's tech still work 25 years later when he's in space and hasn't been to radio shack to stock up on batteries nor does he have a compatible port to plug in the equipment?
How the hell can Loki just assume Odin's spot on the throne and no one notice? If he killed him, then that's way too big of a plot point to have happen off screen. Someone else had to be in that throne room and another set of guards had to be watching over Odin if he was in his Odinsleep.
Interested in what you have to say about that.

You missed the point. In the 90's teams/stars were aided by illegal defenses, now it's via flopping. I really have no dog in this fight, because I thoroughly enjoyed the late 80's through early 90's style of basketball and I enjoy the game for what is is now (but the flopping is pissing me off). It seems some people think you can only love one way and hate the other.

The argument was that big guys back in the 80's and 90's were better shooters
That;s not what he was saying in what you quoted and then I quoted. He said that big guys back in the day also stretched the court and they did largely via the mid-range game. He then brought up Bill Lambieer.
Those were two separate points. You argued against a point he didn't make and I engaged you on the argument you made, not on the argument he made. But really, this whole thread is silly. Even if you make the argument that it was easier for elite players on offense, it was still harder for them on defense. Do you know how hard it was to stifle much less shut down a good shot creator back then? And with the advent of the dribble drive and on ball screens today, any advantage that defenses gained with being able to play zones and packing the paint has been nullified.
The talent isn't any better than it was back in the day, but it is being played smarter by lessening the load on individuals. People can argue all about spikes in athleticism from the 70's til now, but really you're arguing the difference between $9.95 and $10, The main thing that has change through the year is pace and philosophy (dictated by new rules).

Leo, easily. DDL is in a movie what? every 3-4 years? Granted he is stellar in those roles, but shite, Leo is in 2-3 movies a year and at worst has the best scenes in those movies even if he isn't the lead.

There's a reason they brought Han back and refuse to kill him off (unless they finally did in this one).
Han already died in the first movie he appeared in and they revisited his death at the end of Fast 6. The only new footage of him in this movie was one image of him.

Does anyone think it has enough steam to knock Avatar out of the #1 spot. I've been hoping that something, anything, will finally do this. Dances With Smurfs is an insult to the human race.
It won't get close.
Funny story though, after The Avengers came out and set the box office record for opening weekend, I read an article where a guy was discussing what movies could take that opening weekend record and potentially take that record and 4 of the 5 are happening:
Avengers 2
Star Wars Episode 7
Batman vs Superman
Justice League
We live in an age of cynicism where everything has to be immediately declared the best thing ever or absolutely terrible. There is no room for middle ground. You either say you hate or love a movie in 140 characters or less or you write a manuscript so long, it makes the ObamaCare bill seem like a Dr. Seuss book.
Having said that, I don't see how anyone can have watched Man of Steel and said it was bad. Dislike it? Sure I get it, the tone and such may not have been what you want or expected (then again, they never said it was going to be anything other than what they delivered), but to say it's not at least an above average movie within it's genre? That's just silly.
As for the teaser, that's pretty much a textbook good teaser. Show and say just enough to get people talking and wanting more but not enough to tip your hat to any more plot points than what you have already established through your press.

This is a load of crap. I just looked up on basketball-reference the number of seasons where a player who was 6'9" or taller made at least 32% of their 3-point shots.
You wanna know what I found out?
#1 is Dirk Nowitzki with 16 seasons shooting at least 32% from 3.
13 out of the top 20 played the majority of their career in the 2000's.
How about number 20-40?
16 out of the next 20 on the list were from the 2000's.
That means out of the top 40 big men 3-point shooters, 29 out of 40 are from the 2000's era.
Consider the Three-point line didn't make its way down to the high school level until the late 80's this isn't surprising. Guys didn't start shooting 3s at a young age until that time and it takes awhile for it to trickle up.
This wasn't a big gotcha like you thought it would be.
