Age of Ultron was criticized heavily when it came out, and rightfully so

Iron Man 2 and 3
Thor Dark World
Captain Marvel
Black Panther
The First Avenger
The Incredible Hulk

Even GotG2 got a lot of hate, Avengers for a good chunk because people put it against TDKR, Dr. Strange has a lot of people who dislike it, etc.

Avengers 1 took some shite for basically ripping off the Transformers Dark Side of the Moon plot.

Because the Avengers succeeds at what it is, a light hearted, action packed comic book movie. Game of Thrones for 4 seasons was built up as a dark, realistic, medieval fantasy world where actions had consequences and the heroes weren't bailed out by eagles at the last minute. The showrunners lost what the show was built on along the way and slowly the quality begin to drop, ultimately culminating in last night's episode.

All that politicking and manipulating over the first 5 seasons had to come to a head at some point. Those situations almost always end in all out war. Where else did you think the plot was going? Still 3 episodes left for you to get your miserable ending.

Why is it popular on here to dismiss the quality of Thrones, but not Avengers

If you miss the plethora of subtle details in Endgame, the numerous callbacks, the actual science of the time travel, the character scenes between the action sequence, the pacing and closing of arcs without necessarily ending in death, well your comprehension skills aren’t what you think they are.

I love GoT, but The Russos have done an unbelievable job telling this story.
