Clean for me Dutch boy!
True story we saw it in the Houston galleria back in the day having no idea what to expect.
We walked out already embarrassed and literally ran into Chuck Norris who was promoting some movie he was in.
My friend told him "please don't judge us we didn't know anything about this movie before watching it!"
Funny and surreal.

Crazy, just watched it for the first time myself on a flight the other day. Thankfully it was a pretty empty flight as I was a bit embarrassed watching a few scenes. I'm still not sure why I watched all the way through, other than seeing River alive and feeling for him. Funny to also see Keanu a bit younger too. WTF was that movie?

I saw this so long ago, I don't remember enough to counter your opinion, but I don't remember hating it. The movie Van Sant did the year before, Drugstore Cowboy, is excellent though.

Drugstore Cowboy is good and had great reviews so that allowed Van Sant to make his little personal project My Own Private Idaho. I saw it way back when it was released thinking River Phoenix, it's going to be good. Yeah, not so much. Haven't seen it since.
