From Netflix:

quote:

Two Mississippi families -- one black, one white -- confront the brutal realities of prejudice, farming and friendship in a divided World War II era.

Also based on a book.

Fiancée and I watched it tonight and enjoyed it. Fun fact, but my fiancée played the piano in the movie and served as a hand double for Carey Mulligan. Had nothing but positive things to say about all of the actors and actresses on set. She had lunch with Mike from Breaking Bad and said he was extremely nice.

I thought it ended a little abruptly, but it really was a fine movie.

Hey, it's got Mike Ehrmentrout in it. Not saying about it being good or bad because I just don't know, but the short summary gives the feeling of an Oscar bait type of movie. Don't think it can qualify because I think it has to have a theater release to qualify for award shows, but it still seems like that "type."

I read about this film yesterday for Oscar contenders, but I know the academy has been very standoff-ish with embracing Netflix films. I would be very curious though as to how they treat this one...it seems too modern Oscar-bait for them to pass up. But....Get Out will take the place of this one as the apple of many in Hollywood's eye

I think this was filmed somewhere in the river parishes. I remember it being talked about around town.

I know everyone loves to scream Oscar bait with these types of movies, and rightfully so, but they still have to be good. Case in point: The Birth of a Nation and Free State of Jones last year, and this year Detroit is sitting at #28 on the best picture predictions on gold derby

I think it's fricking hilarious how they make it a point to say the white people are different in Europe than america. Like really?? Lol I guess white people are only racist In America.

Only two alternatives come to mind where a hand double might be needed. Both raise interesting questions:
1) Wtf was wrong with Carey Mulligans hands that required a stand-in?
2) Wtf was the Carey Mulligan character asked to do with her hands that she refused yet your fiancé was so willing? Does your fiancé have better “hand skills” than a Hollywood actress?

I honestly can't believe this...I just watched the movie and am trying to figure out the piano piece your fiancee is playing @ the 1:30 mark. Would you please let me know? I am dying to get the music and play it on my piano.
