you really reached after these 3
I'm sure you could come up with a vague list of cliches for any movie, tho.

You could even call them "archetypes" or "themes" and find that nothing is original.
But a person would only do that if his agenda is getting in the way of appreciating something...

What about me? I like Die Hard and Brokeback Mountain. WTF does that make me?
It was sarcasm man.

Olbermann's best work has always been in the sports world
Never liked him even before his true colors were revealed. Always seemed like a pompous arse to me.

The fact that you would refuse to watch someone doing what they are best at because of something completely unrelated to the action they are performing is pretty fricking ignorant.
You trying to tell me what is in my head is what is pretty fricking ignorant.

it's reminiscent of the old school Sports Center days--back when ESPN was still good. Maybe you don't remember those days, but I do.
Ive got a great memory a-hole and have been watching ESPN since day one.

Fair enough.

Assuming that you're the only one that this is addressed to is pretty fricking ignorant.

Congrats.
Then I think that we can agree that ESPN has gone way downhill since the Disney merger.

The early days were tough too. I watched alot of Austalian rules football and womens bowling!

Not really. The homophobic military (or tough guy) man actually being a closet homosexual is a stereotype that gets used often.

It was sarcasm man.
The fact that someone likes a movie really says nothing more about them othen than their taste in movies. People read way too much into stupid shite like this.

Forrest gump, I hate this movie with a passion I can't believe it won the oscar for best picture over Shawshank redemption.
I'm surprised nobody diatribed against this gem of a post.
Forrest Gump is one of my favorite films of all time.
Wonderful soundtrack
Tom Hanks' best performance
Tackles several 20th Century social issues
Excellent Cinematography/Writing

I first gained my affinity for footie and later rugby from the early ESPN days, and I still play rugby to this day in part because of it.
(thread jack)
It seems that back before ESPN became the major media giant that it is today, they did a much better job. Kind of like when someone's hungry versus when they don't need to fight for everything...

Yeah, I loved those early days. Having grown up without any sports coverage other than the paper ESPN was great. Those guys would hustle to cover anything remotely sports related. I think I watched a dart tournament one time.

My agenda? Are you kidding? Are those comments supposed to hint at some kind of anti-gay bias I'm hiding? For your information, I went into this movie hoping to love it, like I do all movies. I want to be entertained. Couldn't stand the movie the first time I saw it and even rented it when it came out on dvd a year later to give it a second chance. Still thought it was terrible, obvious, and even arrogant.

Nobody diatribed because they agree that forrest gump sucks and its not Tom Hanks best performance by a mile. Philadelphia and Saving Private Ryan were his best performances.

Even take away the awkwardness of the ghey scenes it still was a really lousy movie- afterschool special type sentiment that all the "cool" people loved just for the hype and gheyness
You're simply . . . wrong. Brokeback Mountain was a very good movie with two great performances. You don't have to be gay to sympathize with the characters.
I will say that Forrest Gump was sentimental pap. Pretty awful, really.
Crash was wildly overpraised by some people. Not an absolutely horrible movie, but a mediocre one whose reach exceeded its grasp.

Wow, this is... Do you really think that most of the people who like Forrest Gump are full of themselves and pretentious? Seriously, change your screen name.

Has anyone said "Memento" yet?
I mean, I get it. It goes backwards.
