Throw Juno into this conversation.

I also think Children of Men is way overhyped. Great cinematography and long scenes, blah blah blah. But the story never "grabbed" me. I felt nothing for any of the characters.

Oh don't get me wrong I also think it's mentioned just so people can say they like a gay movie.

Neither Juno or Children of Men have any place in this conversation.

I agree that Children of Men doesn't belong in this thread....but Juno? Really? That movie was awful. The dialogue was hideous. It got extra credit from Hollywood for being a little different than a normal romantic comedy.

I don't think we are talking about the same movie.

I fricking HATE that movie. The only people I know that like it are "film aficionados", which are coincidentally some of the biggest douchebags I know. I don't think they even like it, but just pretend to so they can look cooler (to the film crowd).

Went to the theater to watch this with my wife and I knew it was going to be bad. I was wrong though, it was worse than bad, absolute torture. How long was it? Seemed like 6 hours. I left several times to the bathroom, snack bar, outside to smoke, then took a little nap.

Terrible just terrible.

Brokeback Mountain. Never seen it but it I get the distinct impression everyone says they like this movie just because Heath Ledger died.

Ive never seen it. I don't understand how a straight male could possibly enjoy this. Now if it was two hot cow girls thats a different story!

You say that but I still not sure we are talking about the same film. You thought it had terrible dialogue? Are you serious? I can understand not liking the movie because it just isn't your thing but you are seriously reaching. It had a great script and a terrific cast...for example:

quote:

Leah: Dude, I think it's best to just tell 'em.
Juno MacGuff: I'm Pregnant.
Bren: Oh, God.
Juno MacGuff: But, uh ah, I'm going to give it up for adoption and I already found the perfect couple, they're going to pay for the medical expenses and everything. And and what ah 30 or odd weeks we can just pretend that this never happened.
Mac MacGuff: You're pregnant?
Juno MacGuff: I'm sorry. I'm sorry... And if it is any consolation I have heartburn that is radiating in my knee caps and I haven't taken a dump since like Wednesday... morning.
Bren: I didn't even know that you were sexually active.
Juno MacGuff: I, uh...
Mac MacGuff: Who is the kid?
Juno MacGuff: The-the baby? I don't really know much about it other than, I mean, it has fingernails, allegedly.
Bren: Nails, really?
Juno MacGuff: Yeah!
Mac MacGuff: No, I know I mean who's the father, Juno?
Juno MacGuff: Umm... It's Paulie Bleeker.
Mac MacGuff: Paulie Bleeker?
Juno MacGuff: What?
Mac MacGuff: I didn't think he had it in him.
Leah: I know, right?

I think it's a good movie.

I think most of the movies mentioned in this thread are good. Sounds like a lot of anti-hollywood liberal garbage going on. It's ok to like movies that are considered "elistist".

Honestly, I could watch Teen Wolf all day long and enjoy it over and over. I can also watch Children of Men over and over.

Some of yall are acting 100x more pretentious than the movie critics yall are bashing

2001: A Space Odyssey
The English Patient
Eyes Wide Shut

You're not just fake if you profess a fondness for these films but a probably a masochist as well.

I feel the same way about the Twilight books. Try readiong them first before declaring anyone who likes them gay.

Serioulsly though, the first one is pretty gay.
