San Andreas. Looks like a cheesy corny movie where Rock does superhuman feats to save people, likely his family, and escapes an earthquake just in time.

it is. it reminds me of the expendable movies. predictable and unrealistic, but still pretty entertaining

oh, and steele magnolias is a damn good movie. even if it is a chick flick.

Did you enjoy Slumdog?

Slumdog was great. Haven't seen it in a few years but it was really good. If you're comparing Moonlight to Slumdog as far as quality, then it's probably a good movie.

I don't get why people hate Slumdog.

It was interesting...and often very fun...and well made.

I saw it twice in the theaters and it was packed and got huge applause at the end both times.

(I still don't know why people applaud for non-live performances...but that's another issue.)

I wasn't around here when Precious came out but I imagine the reaction was the same that greets something like moonlight. Nevermind that Monique's searing performance as a welfare queen would give your average SJW a stroke, I'm sure it got labeled as liberal propaganda right off the bat.

Precious was pretty universally loved on this board. . . so you would be wrong.

The more apt comparison would be Brokebutt

Sell me on seeing Moonlight

The point of this thread wasn't to sell you on a certain movie

Rather to point out people's wrong assumptions about certain movies, and moonlight is the most recent one.

It's not 2 hours of liberal, SJW propaganda, it doesn't race bait, it doesn't blame people for certain problems, and there's only about 3 minutes of "gayness" in the entire movie. i completely understand how it's easy to make that assumption based on current Hollywood and their politics. I'm just saying there are some movies that don't fit that bill
