I was watching The Longest Day last night (WW2 movie about D-Day) and noticed a horrible bit of editing... When Erwin Rommel is walking along the coastline talking about the English Channel, he just disappears from the middle of the screen for 5 seconds (while still talking) then suddenly reappears. Kind of a shocking oversight in editing for a movie with the budget this one had...

You can see it at the :30 mark of this video:

Dark Knight Rises - the stock exchange robbery takes place during trading hours so they can hack the NYSE. they complete the hack, which had to have been completed before 4pm, but it was night time when the trades were finally completed.

Haven’t seen that lately, but they’re in Gotham, not NYC, right? Maybe the GCSE stays open longer

Just thought of another one.

In Friday Night Lights the movie. When they are playing Midland Lee, the QB is wearing a Riddell Revolution helmet. The movie was supposed to take place in the late 80’s and the Revolution helmet didn’t come out until 2004.

Also, a bunch of players on opposing teams had under armor gear... and Under Armour didn’t exist back then.

Pretty much anytime it cuts between two shots of someone smoking in a Scorsese movie.

The general reduction in smoking portrayed in movies has reduced a lot of continuity errors. In older movies and period pieces where almost every character smokes errors abound.

In the Bourne Identity when Bourne is in the US Embassy and he is trying to escape he exits a door and climbs on a fire escape.
While on it there are several shots of the ground and sometimes there is a car, then it is gone, then it’s back. There is snow on the ground and no tire tracks.
He drops his red bag on the ground and I think it comes and goes too.

IIRC in the Nicholson Batman Kim Basinger is never told how to get to the Batcave. She simply shows up.

I always assumed she went to Wayne Manor and Alfred took her there.

It's a retroactive fix, but in Returns, Bruce busts Alfred's balls for bringing Vicki to the cave in the previous film.

On Old School, the Mitch A Palooza poster said Thursday. Right before Frank starts drinking, they ask him what he's doing tomorrow. He said "a pretty nice little Saturday, we're gonna go to Home Depot."

In Vacation Anthony Michael Hall grew 4 inches during filming
Walter Matthau had a heart attack while making The Fortune Cookie and lost 40 pounds. In one scene he's going down stairs (pre-HA) and by the time he reaches the bottom he's 40 pounds thinner (shot months after his HA)

But the "classic" example is Montgomery Clift in Raintree County. During shooting he was in a horrible car wreck which disfigured him and required several surgeries (his jaw had to be broken, then when doctors realized they'd done it incorrectly they broke it again).

Some people play a game trying to spot the before and after shots of Clift in RT, but it's actually quite easy. The exteriors were shot on location in Kentucky, then the accident happened soon after the cast and crew returned to Hollywood. Thus the on-location exteriors are mostly pre-accident, the interiors mostly post-accident.

I always think back to Commando where Arnold is destroying the yellow Porsche and then takes off in a perfect Porsche after dropping off Sully
