#1 is easily the hardware salesman that earns his buck like a motherfricker.
But rewatching the series and totally forgot about this guy:
LINK
Dude hates his job, knows who Marlo is, but still says his piece when Marlo disrespects him.

Stringer Bell. He made mistakes in the end but he saved the Barksdale organization and tried to minimize the violence and organize the rival gangs with the coop

Stringer is one of the most popular/liked characters, brah.

Roland 'Prez' Pryzbylewski

Prez is legit. Wee-Bey is pretty popular.
I should add Levy. A lot of people hate him but I love how he just openly mocks all of the street thugs whenever they do something stupid. He slapped around D and all but mocked Stringer when he found out about his pissing away money to Clay Davis.

I think that dude got killed for saying that to Marlo. I can't remember what the hint was right now, but I think that it is stongly implied.

I don't remember. I'm rewatching for the first time in about 5 years (couldn't help myself with the HD remake). Will let you know if it comes up. Dude had some balls, though. Some old fella also kind of picked on Marlo at a card game, but I guess he may have had street cred.

Marlo punked that dude out so hard. He ain't underrated at all

Ain't even underrated.
Bunny/String were two of the most popular characters on the show. Wee Bey and Prez were legit nominations. Prez could have been natural police if they had kept him at a desk or in a limited action street role like Bunk.

He knew who Marlo was and still didn't back down like a bitch. Would you have done what he did if you knew that the thief was a cold blooded killer?

We took something different away from that scene. He looked like a bitch from my point of view.

Poot.
Kills Wallace even though he didn't want to(while Bodie was trying to be hard), had the balls to speak up to Stringer, told McNulty to beat him or arrest him, survived and got out of the game.
Also, as a bonus works at Foot Locker.
ETA:
or just a Foot Locker knock off

Fair enough, but 99% of people would have just let Marlo walk out with the whopping ~$1.00 worth of suckers. shite, in the same episode, Marlo took one of his people's rings that had sentimental value. Dude just gave it up.
A bit OT but not worthy of it's own thread, but I wonder if Cutty ever visited Avon in jail. Dude gave him $15k for the boxing place and goes to jail for 7+ a few days later.

Legit answer, but I always fricking hated Poot after the Wallace thing.
Fun fact: The actor that plays Poot auditioned for the part of Wee Bey (LOL!!). The producers liked the audition but thought that he was too short, so they wrote the part of Poot just for him.
