I'm going to get blasted for this, but Al Pacino.
I don't disagree if we're just talking about his later years. He morphed into playing the same character in every movie after about "Scarface," with maybe the exception of "Carlito's Way." I will say that "Scent of Woman" was a great movie, even if he was stuck in his usual Pacino character.

Wait, isn’t Scent of a Woman the movie that everyone said became like his shtick? That was the performance that then became “usual Pacino”.

You can trace it back to "Scarface," and it goes downhill from there. "Godfather III" is a good example, then "Glengarry Glen Ross."
"Scent of Woman" came after that.

Scent of a Woman is when the “Hooah” stuff started, and his courtroom speech. Those are the things that became stereotypical Pacino. That’s the performance that became the go to Pacino impression.

No doubt that is the pinnacle, but the over-the-top acting began well before that.

Even in Carlito's he's pretty hammy.

This freaking guy. I can't stand his schtick, be it annoyingly selling crap in commercials or being awful in movies. I have no idea how this guy has a near cult-like following.

I feel like MBJ is above average and does well when he acts in drama.I just feel like everybody acting like he is some modern sex symbol is way too much when he looks like any plain guy you pass on the street any day.
