No movie EVEN COMES CLOSE to this one. I would seriously put up money and bet that anybody who watches this movie for the first time will be seriously depressed the rest of the day after viewing it. This movie is no joke.

Not one single good thing happens to the main character and just when things look like they are turning around for the better, it only gets worse...much worse. It's great great movie but goddamn it will mess you up.

Never saw it. I'll need to rent that one.

I always thought that Midnight Cowboy was one of the most depressing movies I'd ever seen. I couldn't even finish it the first time I saw it.

+1

Also, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling, and most of Gran Torino cause Clint Eastwood is the master of dark, depressing movies.

Mist gets an honorable mention here for the last 10 minutes.

Those shots of driving around with Host of the Seraphim in the background (only song in the entire movie because it sets the mood so damn well) always evokes depression, never mind what follows.

Think you mean Charly

Haven't seen it, but yeah, I can imagine watching the quick regression to be extremely depressive.
