quote:Fairly certain the person they keep showing at the beginning and end of episodes is Dennis Rader.
His ultimate career goal was to catch the “green river” killer. That’s the guy they keep showing at the beginning of each episode, one of the most notorious killers in history.

Definitely great usage of that song.

You’re probably right about the intro guy being the BTK killer.
I’m getting this feeling they are subtly combining the two as Douglas had retired before the Green River Killer was caught iirc
ETA - he never caught the BTK Killer either. I bet that’s changed for the sake of the show.
Here’s a picture of the actual Green River Killer. Looks just like the guy at the beginning. So they could be obviously doing the BTK Killer with a hint of green river.

I hope everyone had this same prgression through the season like I did:
- Kemper character draws our attention immediately.
- The Mindhunter team support was awesome...but the lead actor not so much.
- But the lead actor was a slow burn that when it started to ignite it really lit up, and you realize that dude brought it the entire series. The lead actor did a better job than any other actor including Kemper.

He's 100% right.
-both in kansas
-similar appearance
-worked for security company installing home alarms
There is no doubt the intro character is BTK

I mean, it is the BTK killer. That is 100% a fact.
I don't think those vignettes are supposed to be about catching him. I think they are supposed to be about escalation and the progression of a serial killer.

Nah, they'll portray successes in the most favorable light and minimize failures, because that's how Douglas rolls, but they won't flat-out lie about something that's a matter of record.

Nah, the dude at the beginning is without question BTK.

I’m not questioning if it is the BTK Killer anymore.
I’m suggesting they’ll combine the green river killer with him in some form for the sake of the story. The green river killer and the BTK were his white whales.
The green river killer was the one that led to his closest call with death in his career - no way that leave that out

Then, in 1983, Douglas' job almost killed him. In Seattle to help investigate the Green River murders, a series of killings of prostitutes and transients, he had a seizure and slipped into a coma. The diagnosis: viral encephalitis brought on or complicated by stress. He was lucky to be alive, and his recovery has taken years. As recently as a year ago, he was still battling blood clots caused by that illness.

They could very well be mixing some infamous serial killers together for this television series. Especially for the smaller cases.

I’m thinking they may take some liberties at some point.

Didn't like the girlfriend very much. Thought she was an odd fit
I thought she was a good fit for Ford. He's not exactly a normal fit.
I liked the character and the way she was written...I felt the actress was too stiff.

The only thing I didn’t like was using her to insert the non-verbal anachronistic knowledge that didn’t exist until a few years later (well it was around the same time but she spoke of it as it was classified more clearly later). Other than that she was used almost as a mirror for Holden to bounce his internal dialog around for the audience and to show how the psychopathic stress was slowly seeping into his personal life (which I enjoyed).

I jsut felt she was a bad actor.
Like she was waiting to say her line. Similar to EVERY actor in the movie Clerks.

Yeah I definitely agree they could have picked someone with a more geniune tone. The character came across like a bitch half the time when I think having someone more innocent would have been a better baseline for Holden to be compared to as he changed.
By innocent I don’t mean morally necessarily- just more likeable and geniune.
Hopefully whoever they cast as Pam will be that way.

I hope that throughout the series they have Holden interview Gacy and Bundy. It would be interesting to hear the mindset of those psychopaths.

I don't think BTK will have anything to do with the main story. I don't think that's the purpose of them.
