I didn’t follow her career so close to even guess if she may have had any substance issues but that seems what many leap to first. Fair or not.
Fans had commented on her gaunt look and she really didn’t reply with much more than ‘she’s not a kid anymore, but an adult woman & this is how she looks now.

Just look at Judy Garland, Drew Barrymore, Carrie Fisher, Danny Bonaduce, etc.
Thankfully Drew survived and came out the other side and is thriving. And she looks amazing . She's the exception, unfortunately.
